Disney Shareholder Meeting in New Orleans - The juicy details from O-Meon

Disney Shareholder meetings are famous for their drama, marketing, and lack of any real new information. This year had all of the above and more (or less as the case may be).

Chuck Oberleitner, of www.O-Meon.com reports on all the juicy details

50 minutes into the proceedings while Disney/Pixar creative head John Lasseter was giving a forward-looking presentation of upcoming films from the two studios, corporate gadfly extraordinaire Evelyn Y. Davis leapt to her feet, walked up to a microphone, and demanded Disney chairman John Pepper stop the presentation and get on with the business of the meeting.

“We didn’t come here to hear a lecture about animation,” an agitated Davis barked at Lasseter and Pepper in her ponderous Dutch accent. “We’re here for the business of the meeting. These things should be saved for after shareholder business!” Davis continued, without pausing to give either Pepper or Lasseter an opportunity to respond.

Disney’s annual meeting was almost delayed as the ever-demanding Ms. Davis insisted on meeting privately with Disney CEO Bob Iger prior to the meeting, for some personal one-on-one time and pictures.

Even after spending several minutes alone with Iger, Davis clung to the Mouse House Big Cheese as the pair emerged from a conference room in New Orleans’ Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Just as photographers appeared, despite the efforts of Disney Company executives to restrain her, the 76 year old Davis moved toward Iger saying she wanted to give him a kiss.
Chuck goes on to detail information about upcoming Disney and Pixar films. Including information about Disney's first African-American princess in the upcoming The Frog Princess.

Sounds like Davis thinks she's all that and a bag of chips. I guess she doesn't know or care that it is ANIMATION that made the Disney "business" what it is today.

I agree. After reading the whole article, she is obviously a self absorbed, deluded, egomaniac...with some paranoia thrown in there too. It takes all kinds I guess.

And she doesn't seem to mind that everyone knows she's nuts. It isn't just Disney meetings that she haunts. She apparently does this to a lot of companies. I guess everyone has their thing they do. For me its Pocky. Someday people will write how nuts I was.

The thing that I was really excited about reading was Disney's return to 2D animation with the first African-American princess movie. It is about time on both accounts. I'm very interested to hear more about Disney's the Frog Princess.

I mentioned on the Omeon thread that Iger's talent for
negotiating is spectacular, and the pic of that delusional
ego-eccentric goof of a lady with one foot in padded cell,
of her kissing Iger, is proof of that.

I really can't understand why she insists on interupting
the order, and insist on being listened to in the middle
of John Lasseter's presentation. Conduct like that should
be immediately attended to by security, and she should
have been evicted from the meeting.
She certainly would have had a chance to talk, even without the interuption.
They should just consider her a terrorist and lock her up.

She owns some share of Disney stock...and plays no role in Disney planning other than obviously having an ego problem and desparation for attention.
