Princess Buttercup & disneyballerina invade SF Ballet

    March 20

Princess Buttercup kindly invited me, disneyballerina, to join her at the San Francisco Ballet. We met at the Pleasanton BART station and rode into the city together, scaring people with our happy chatter the whole way there.

Once we arrived at the Civic Center (it was freezing cold and windy) we looked for someone to take our picture.

    Windblown Princess and Ballerina:

Finding a clean restroom was the next order of business. We were serious. We headed straight to City Hall, of course.

We had to go through a metal detectors to get in, but I'm so glad we did. I don't remember ever having been inside before. Yes, the bathroom was clean, but we also saw some way cool stuff in there.

PB looking like Cinderella on the grand staircase.

DB: PB, I don't think we're supposed to go back there behind those curtains.

PB: Get over there and let me take your picture!

    DB: Are you sure?

    PB: Yes, just do it!

    DB: *smiles for the camera*

Showtime for the Ballerina and the Princess

    Show some leg, PB!

Careful Westley, PB's found a new boyfriend:

    Part 2 to follow

    Still inside City Hall

    Goodbye City Hall

    DB and Honest Abe:

I thought he looked a little scary, frankly.

Making our way to Chevy's, we saw this interesting piece.

    PB:
    You're totally screwed, DB!

    Time for cocktails!

PB had to send the first drink back as it tasted like salt water straight from the Bay. I had the Peach Fuzz, so no salt trouble there. Delicious!

PB's fabulous (if you are not 911-allergic) shrimp fajitas!

We are MiceChatters, right? So what do we do when separated from other MiceChatters? Why, we call them and disturb include them!

Can you hear us, Pezz? Wish you were here!

Why are we here again? Oh yeah, the ballet! It's time!

    A self-portrait before curtain time:

    Details, details

We had an evening of four pieces:
    I Pacific
    II Carousel (A Dance)
    III The Fifth Season
    IV Fancy Free

Pacific and The Fifth Season were my least favorites, too stark and modern for me. I did love the music of both though. PB and I agreed on that.

Carousel (A Dance) and Fancy Free are both SF premieres this 2007 Repertory Season. I loved them both! Beautifully staged and choreographed, performed with precision and passion. Just amazing. Amazing.

    Post show afterglow

    Time to go home

Look what we saw in the station

    Oh my.

And this. PB and her um, uh...

Not sure the significance of this one, but she asked me to take it. So here ya go, PB.

All in all, a night to be remembered. Thanks a million, PB. I had the best time with you.

If those are water glasses, it means those drinks were ginormous!

The forks too! PB, were the drinks THAT HUGE to dwarf the water glasses like that? or maybe the restaurant is so stingy, they serve water an ounce and a half at a time...

You could straight up murder someone with those huge knives. Maybe they just use shot glasses for water, and it makes everything else look big. It's all about perspective. It's like eating in a Salvador Dali painting.

Or maybe I'm thinking about it too hard.

    Patron!

Also, that looks like a fun time! And city hall's gorgeous!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
