Ever wanted to sail on one of the ships from Pirates of the Carribean?

I've just learned the the Lady Washington (formerly known as the HMS Interceptor of POTC fame) has docked in Alameda along with the Hawaiian Chieftain. Both ships are offering tours, adventure sailing, and mock sea battles which you can partake in. For more information, go to http://www.historicalseaport.org/
    Growing older is manditory
    Growing up is however, optional

I got to go on it. It was pretty neat, if you get the chance, do it.

Re: Ever wanted to sail on one of the ships from Pirates of the Carribean?

On July 4, 2004 our family had the privilege of being invited to sail on a tall ship. Our good friend's daughter is involved in the tall ship program out of San Pedro and they invited us to a pot luck and viewing of fireworks from the Queen Mary. So my husband, daughter and myself went and had a wonderful time. The name of our tall ship was Swift of Ipswich from the Maritime Institute in San Pedro near Ports 'O Call. These are only a few of the many pictures I took that day.

Looking up at the masts and sails before we sailed.

This is my daughter dreaming of a certain pirate

This is the sister ship to the one we went on. It sailed out ahead of us. Our ship looked exactly like it.

Now they are starting to lower the sails.

This is one of my more artsy shots looking back at the sister ship with the sun behind it.

Everyone on the ship were volunteers of the program and their friend and family. So all the people who work on these ships climbed up to work with the sails. This is the left side but there were lots of people up in the riggings and mast on the other side, too. This picture shows my friend and his daughter on the bottom left.

As the sun was sitting my daughter and her friends walked out along the ropes to the bow of the ship to sit and watch the fireworks. I was a little nervous watching them go out there, but they seemed perfectly comfortable. I tried to lighten this photo, but this is the best I could come up with.

It was a really fun experience and I'm glad we had the opportunity to go out, and for free with food and fireworks thrown in

Oh yes the Lady Washington...It was built in my hometown and it is still Aberdeen,WA is still the home port. I see it every summer. A bunch of kids I know have worked on the ship and some even got to be extras in the Pirates movies.
