Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Cover!!!

Actually now that I look at the cover closely, it looks more like Harry is summoning something (or someone) and Voldemort looks more like he is retreating. The way he is posed strikes me as more of a defensive pose.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Cover!!!

The "Adult" books from the UK are simply a more adult looking cover. The insides of the book are the same.

Does anybody else notice that the US cover this time has Harry looking more like Daniel Radcliffe than the more comic book looking Harry of past covers.

I have the entire set of the Adult UK books and pre-ordered the 7th from Amazon.com.uk. They are expensive due to shipping costs, but I wanted them as the story uses British spelling and has some wording differences because of the way the British speak or name things differently than we do.

The House Elf is probably Dooby as they did say he would be coming back.

Your nearby B&N will likely be open, and people will show up.

I work at B&N and all stores will be having a party. You must go to one because they are very fun. All this excitment over a book! It's great!

Thanks for the scoop on the cover. Love the colors involved. Almost like a sunrise, a possitive outlook on the whole story.

    Thanks Nancywitt!
What a cool job during times like this huh????
Are they planning the same type of release as past years or something more elaborate? Isn't Scholastic getting more involved in this release?

We don't have any details yet, but I can say the bigger the store, the more funding they will have for the party. Each store is given money for the party, but some get more than others. I did hear that Scholastic will be sending out more freebies. Our store had a costume contest for different ages, face painting, treasure hunt for the golden snitch, HP book give-aways, and much more. As the date gets closer, more details will emerge. I'll keep everyone posted.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Cover!!!

Here is a little blurb posted on mugglenet I figured I would put here from the us book editor....

Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:

"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.

"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."

When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded
