Re: News for Phoenix Disney Fans: A New Disney Store?!?!? And Happy 20th Disney Sto

Aladdin: Metro was store 6681 (originally 681 under Disney but they added 6's to all the stores when CP took over. ex. PV was 480 now it's technically 6480...).
They closed because there were issues with the lease (ie: Metro sold our space to someone else before Disney could buy it again and tried to offer another space that would cost tons of money rebuild.)
I miss it a lot cause it was my home store, but Metro's getting scarier by the day and I'm really glad not to work there.

Gaughey: Haven't heard anything along those lines for Tucson, then again we keep getting info about Phoenix area stores and not outside really. I'll let you know if I hear anything

Re: News for Phoenix Disney Fans: A New Disney Store?!?!? And Happy 20th Disney Sto

After the World of Disney's and Disney Vault 28, the Disney Stores are complete letdowns. They could have some really good assortment of things if the product wasn't so cheap. I would like to see a new type of Disney Store that sells products in an orderly fashion ranging from a Disney Home section to Disney Baby to adult clothing to all the plastic and toys. For some reason, the home collection and adult selection in Disney Stores are trying so hard to be like that of World of Disney and Vault 28, yet they fall so short. Children's Place could really improve the organization and output of the stores. Don't you think?

They need to bring back the Caesar's Palace-type stores. That store was SO cool. I couldn't believed they closed it.

Re: News for Phoenix Disney Fans: A New Disney Store?!?!? And Happy 20th Disney Sto

Well, The Children's Place ONLY had knowledge about
Childrens clothes. Any other merchandise is a WHOLE
NEW learning process for them. It does make it a little
frustrating with the new owners knowing so little about
    any other types of merchandise.

    They seem to have
grown a little into kid's toys, expanded to different
graphics on adult t-shirts (with some fairly nice designs).
Some of the mugs are ok, the snow globes are so-so,
they do have some plush, for what that worth. As I
said before, the Easter selection was limited but nice.
And they will be expanding the variety of merchandise
for the Christmas holidays this year.

But yes, they are really not addressing the adult
Disney market, much at all. It really is surprising,
looking back at the wide variety of merchandise
The Disney Store used to carry several years ago,
from Disney Collectors Society, Animation Cells,
mini character figures, several series of watches,
Yes, at one point they really were a miniature version
of the World of Disney Store.

As for V28, that needs a completely separate topic
(Yes, it is possible for the Disney Store to sink to
lower levels, and V28 is a perfect example of that
    - that store is a complete mess, horribly organized,
merchandise is crap and sold at 1,000 times it's production
cost, quality is that of less than thrift store ~ It really
sticks out as a blight in Downtown Disney
~ The Disney Store as it is now, is above that! I'm
glad it The Disney Store that is a chain, rather than
V28. If they want an upclass store, The Disney Gallery
STORES were a MUCH BETTER concept! )

Re: News for Phoenix Disney Fans: A New Disney Store?!?!? And Happy 20th Disney Sto

I hear ya. I have a few remnants from when they still called it "The Disney Store." I have a pair of boxers with tigger on them, a few watches, and two animation cells all with the Disney Store logo on them. I miss those days. The closest store to me is the Disney Store in the Glendale Galleria. It was the first Disney Store to open and I remember when it had its old black confetti, film strip look. I miss those days when Disney Stores were like that. It is really sad to see what has become of them. Unfortunately, the Gap-style that they rolled out in 2001 over ran the old themeing. I guess it is better than the Children's Place concepts.

That is why I love World of Disney so much better. It is what a Disney store should be. And true about the mark-up on Vault 28 merchandise. How do they expect to sell anything when a shirt with Mickey on it is 70 dollars?

Desert Ridge is living HELL. North Scottsdale is nice, but jeesh, everybody within 20 miles all converge there. Its such a headache unless you can go during a workday.

Not even Mickey could convince me to waste a drive out to that torture chamber.
