In the past dozen or so years, Pixar films have entertained millions the world over. From Woody and Buzz Lightyear in 1995’s landmark “Toy Story,” to Lightning McQueen and Mater in 2006’s hit “Cars,” no other studio in history has amassed Pixar’s unbroken string of hits.
What’s the secret of Pixar’s success?
It’s not the groundbreaking technology. It’s simply good storytelling, according to John Lasseter, the vice president and creative force behind Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville.
It’s that storytelling savvy the Sonoma Valley Film Festival is honoring Saturday in a special tribute to Lasseter, who has been a longtime friend and supporter of the festival which is marking its 10th anniversary through Sunday.
