The Walt Disney Co. and Hearst have named the director of ABC’s unscripted series development as the new head of Lifetime Entertainment Services, replacing Betty Cohen, who left the company yesterday.

Lifetime on Thursday confirmed that Andrea Wong, ABC’s executive vp of alternative programming, specials and late-night, will assume the top post at the network group, effective immediately.

In her new role, Wong will oversee all the day-to-day operations for Lifetime Television, LMN, Lifetime Real Women and Lifetime Digital, including ad sales, affiliate sales, research, programming, public affairs, marketing, business/legal affairs and strategic planning and operations.

At ABC, Wong has overseen younger-skewing reality fare like Dancing With the Stars, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and The Bachelor, as well as the late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. And while Lifetime has plenty of unscripted projects on its development slate, including the Brit import How to Look Good Naked and America’s Psychic Challenge, Wong said on Thursday that she was also keenly interested in the network’s upcoming scripted series.
