Cable operator Comcast announced today that they're seeing positive results in testing download-on-demand movies in their Denver and Pittsburgh markets.

The trial began several months ago and includes movies released through Disney, NBC Universal, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Fox, Lionsgate and New Line Cinema.

Comcast reported an increase in pay-per-view purchases as a result of the test and is planning to add another city to the trial.

Comcast has priced downloadable movies at $3.99 each, making them available on the same day as they're released on DVD.
