Thumbs down Six Flags Magic Mountain scores an "F" with the Better Business Bureau

    http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Bu...anyID=13031832

Apparently saying you are cleaning up your park and becoming more family friendly isn't enough. Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA has scored an "F" with the Better Business Bureau.

What does this mean? According to the BBB, a score of F implies:

We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.
Maybe this report will finally open up Six Flags eyes and get the park in the shape it needs to be in.

Other SoCal Major Theme Parks ranked as follows:

    Disneyland Resort = C
    Knott's Berry Farm = BBB
    Universal Studios = CC

What does the triple BBB and the double CC mean?

Since SFMM is up for sale I think they are in the "who cares what others think" mode.

^ SFMM is no longer up for sale. Although the fact that it 'was' last year may have contributed to this.

BBB - A very high rating. A company with this rating would not have a significant number of complaints or other considerations that could pose a problem to consumers.

Not sure how Knott's pulled that one off. But I would think alot of it would be contributed to Haunt.

CC - Average rating. We would expect consumer transactions to be satisfactory. Since each transaction is individual, read our full report to determine if you have questions or concerns.

I question these ratings though. I fully admit that I may be biased as a big fan of Disney but I went to Knott's last year and the service was lousy and slow both in food services and rides. The place is dirty and in bad need of repair or at least touch up in some places. All in all it was a poor experience...yet they gave it a high ranking, higher than DLR in fact.

My love for Disney aside (I know its not perfect), I don't agree at all that Knotts outscores DLR or even Universal. This calls the grading into question (for me anyway).

Well, when it comes to Knott's, you have to be able to write to lodge a complaint ... right.

Part of their grading takes into account whether you deliver on pomises to the consumer (truth in advertising), so when you compare the image Disney projects with the experience delivered, vs how Knotts measures up to the image it projects, it's fair to say that Disney has further to go to deliver on its promises.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I wonder how long a period of time
    these "complaints" go back,for the
current rating. And it would also
be interesting in knowing WHO filed
    complaints. Was it contractors, or
guests, . . . .or both? Does it take
    into consideration the amount of
    business each separate park has?
There really do seem to be some
serious questions on the way the
    Better Business Bureau rates various
    companies. Are these ratings
are adjusted for DL due to deaths in
    the Frontierland problems. or are
    they frivilous type incidents(attraction
    under refurbishment)?

It really doesn't look like the BBB is
really the place to check to see
which theme park I will visit on my
next vacation. I would place much
    more confidence in Consumer Reports
    than BBB.

Looking over the report, I don't see why Magic Mountain got an F. They got 13 complaints, 9 were satisfied, 4 were unanswered. For the size of the place they are, 13 BBB complaints in three years sounds pretty good.

BBB base their stuff on complaints and the resolutions. You need to seek the BBB out, they don't go and chase companies down and ask for internal results...
