    Personally, I loved it.

There were certain things that kind of bugged me, but overall I thought it was really good.

Some of my friends who are comic book people were disappointed, and after listening to their complaints I can see where they are coming from.

I'd have to see it again though, Midnight showings are always fun and I love the crowds that show up. So I've never seen a midnight showing that I didn't love.

But after my first viewing I'd say its my favorite out of the trilogy.

Very good. (Coming from a non-reader of the comics)

Re: Spider-Man 3 Reviews and (non-discriminating) Poll... You Choose!

I read the comics religiously, but have distanced myself from them where I can appreciate the movies as an almost seperate entity.
This one was funky...I have never counted down the days to a movie before, but to say I was excited is a HUGE understatement. And I don't want to sound dissapointed...but in a way I feel let down.
The great thing about the first Spidey flicks (and the comics, too) are to scale of it all. Its not grandiose like Superman or X-Men. But this flick felt too... epic. I loved a lot of it. The charm from Spidey 2 (that was sorely lacking in the first installment) was back, but it felt more forced. Still, the scenes with Pete's confidence gained from the symbiote, and Ditkavitch's, JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, 'Edward Brock Jr.' always repeating his name, the dancing...it was great. But too much Sandman, and too much of a sob story for him. And not to sound like a broken record if you listen to any comic fan, but Venom (quite possibly Spidey's greatest adversary) had a total of 10 minutes of screen time and was killed off. The depths that his character could have been explored vastly outnumbers those of the Sandman.
Still, while my analysis seems to be based on dissapointments in comparrison to the comics, it's not. It's a desire to see the film take a smaller scale. I felt like Spidey 1 was a light breakfast, Spidey 2 was an afternoon lunch, and this one was Thanksgiving Dinner. And I didn't think it needed to be.
All that being said (oh, I know, bash me now for my opinions), the movie was a lot of fun and the bad is matched and balanced by the good (and there's plenty of it). All in all a very mixed reaction, but two thumbs up, because any Spiderman movie gets that from me.
Heck, I'd take the worst Spiderman movie ever over the best Superman movie...hehehe

I'm not planning on seeing it anytime soon. I have only seen the first Spider Man film and thought it was boring, just like all the other comic strip based movies (except for the older Batman films). Who knows, maybe some day I will.

The following basically ruined the movie for me:
    Spoiler
WHY DID THEY KILL OFF VENOM?!?!?! He is Spider-Man's coolest and most well known villian and he was just filler in this movie!!
    Out of the NIGHT....
When the full moon is BRIGHT!!
Comes a horseman known as ZORRO!!!

I just got back and I'm feeling a little mixed about it. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I mean, overall, it was an enjoyable afternoon at the movies, but I didn't walk away as excited as I was when I went in.

I didn't care for the way sorta rewrote the history of the previous films for the sake of certain story elements. I thought the middle section kinda dragged. They could have trimmed a good 20 minutes and kept the movie going well. I thought some of the characters were kinda wasted on a minimal amount of involvement.

I did love the action and the effects. The way they did Sandman was particularly good.

I'm hoping they take a break from the franchise for a bit. Just walk away, do some other projects and then come back to these characters a little fresher in a couple years.

Re: Spider-Man 3 Reviews and (non-discriminating) Poll... You Choose!

my opinion? it was SO horrible that it was good! i know it sounds stupid, but it's true. the writing was horrible, but because of that, it was so stupidly funny!

i sat and watched and gagged most of the time untill about the last 40 minutes(which picked up pretty good) but the rest was just LORD, i wanna see it again, lol

    Spoiler
I just can't get over harry. he played it soooooo DUMB and he wasn't anything like that in the first movie, which is what he was suposed to have reverted to, high school, that is. and the "hero's" death. HECK NO! i wanna see them duke it out, lol

don't even get me started on venom. Topher does a great sarcastic guy, true, but venom should NOT have been that sarcastic guy, just lord, i wanted to kill him, lol. honestly he deserved what he got.

and i must say, the hair.......oh baby....oh baby (j/k, lol) my cousin and i busted up the first time he pulled his bangs down, reminded me much of Chris gains, if anyone remembers that?

Re: Spider-Man 3 Reviews and (non-discriminating) Poll... You Choose!

    Spoiler
    Liked:
    -The Sandman portrayal
    -Harry Osborn/Green Goblin 2
    -Dark Spidy/forgiveness of Marko
    -The NY love/hate Spider-man relationship
    -The fights

    Did not like:
-Lame dialogue Dark Spider-man had, those scenes would have been so much more effective without the cliches.
-The absolute rape of the Venom character
    -Harry's death
    -The last scene

This was a movie that was 2/3rds good and 1/3rd bad. When it was good, it was fantastic. All of the fights were absolutely amazing, and worth the price of admission. However Venom felt like he was thrown in at the last second, and hardly ever got any screen time. While I did not mind the change of Brock into twisted Peter, I did have a problem with the way he acted as Venom. Frankly, he wasn't needed, and while I understand why they put him in (with the uncertainty of 4th movie) the movie would have been far better with the symbiote and Brock not meeting until the final shot. When he held MJ like that and Peter helplessly watching, he would have killed her right there, not just made a snide remark. Also Venom referred to himself in the singular (me) instead of the plural (we) like he should. Finally, why in the world did you have to kill off Eddie at the end? Having the symbiote slink away and carting Eddie off to prison would have been just as satisfying and left open a return to the character at a later time if they wanted to, I really hate when Comic Book Movies kill off their villains left and right (which is what I have come to expect from this franchise.) Also why did you kill Harry, again there was no point to it. Finally, if this was truly the final movie why in the world did it have to end on a MJ/Parker hug which who knows what that means, when the other two ended with one last shot of Spider-man to give you that last wow. Instead it ended with a "huh" and disappointment with the abrupt end.

I just got back from a viewing of this.My friends who are big comic book fans personally were very dissapointed with how Venom came across on the screen compare to the comics. However I rate it up there with the other two movies,it was ok for what it was. However biggest complaint for me was that you had way to many villians in this movie than needed to be,and I really don't know if they ever make a fourth movie what direction it will go in!

No offense, but I think that anyone who logs into this topic should know it contains spoilers. I really dont want to have to put my thoughts in a little black box

Not necessarily. I come to MiceChat on occasion to read what other people think of movies that I haven't seen yet to determine whether or not I'd like to go.

I always appreciate those that use spoilers.

I think it would be a really nice gesture for you to go back and edit your posts to contain spoilers. It's not censorship, your words are still there.
