Yo Ho, Uh Oh—There be Squalls Ahead!

    By C. W. Oberleitner
    May 15, 2007

At first glance, the summer of 2007 would appear to be shaping up as a box office bonanza for Hollywood studios. Some industry prognosticators, however, see dark clouds gathering above the nation’s flashing movie marques. Our own tinsel town tea leaf reader sees obstacles ahead for Disney’s two big summer blockbusters, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and Disney/Pixar’s CG-animated Ratatouille.

    Things Look Good For Pirates-3

It looks like Disney Studios may have lifted their no reviews until opening day embargo for guests at last night’s advanced screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The first reviews are in and they are, for the most part, fairly favorable. Avast, ye be properly warned. There be spoilers ahead!

I really do hope that Ratatouille does better then expected at the box office. It looks like a really fun film. Pirate's will do well, but with the rumors flying around it sounds like it fizzle quickly.

Re: 05-14-07 Yo Ho, Uh Oh

Aren't film makers from the big companies always
concerned about the returns on their movies?
    Especially big budget movies?

Disney was a little late at getting word out
about the movie. But the interest is certainly
out there. And trilogies usually do get a little
complicated, plot wise ~ if they have have a
decent enough plot to carry it 3 movies.

And so what if the box office dropped over
    60% for Spiderman, in it's 2nd weekend?
There really wasn't much competition for
Spiderman 3, but it's not really the movie
you take your mom to, on Mother's Day.

Next weekend brings Shrek 3, which will
walk away in 1st place for next weekend.
Just how much is the big question. No doubt
Spiderman 3 will be dropping in the number of
theaters it will show in next week, to make
    way of Shrek 3.

But, the BIG question, which wasn't even brought
up in the article is How many theaters will make
way for Pirates 3, with Shrek, and Spiderman still
there taking up a sizable portion of the market.

Neither of the other 2 pirate movies faced this
kind of competition. With so many other theaters
taking up a sizable chunk of the theaters, it's going
to be difficult for Pirates 3 to reach the same numbers
    seen with 1 and 2.

And following the lead of Meet the Robinson's, no fast
food restaurant is there promoting the movie. Shrek
has become McDonald's "golden-child" , or is it green,
as in the color of money, this year. No cool magic
pirate skull, or Davey Jones Treasure Chest in this
years Happy Meals! Those are the type of things
Disney really should be concerned with.

Oh, since McDonalds has turned Shrek, Can we kick
them out of both their fry stands in Frontierland?!?!?!?!?!?
And might as well kick their butt out of DCA, too.

"At World's End" needs the "Yo Ho!" theme somewhere in the film, or else I'm going to be seriously disappointed. And, Disney had better tell the creators to shut-up about any future movies because people want a real resolution with this episode.

It's best not to try the patience of audiences. I, myself, am already growing weary of Pirates of the Caribbean, especially because of all the things that are happening to Disneyland.

I plan on staying until the very end (after the credits roll) as therehave been surprises hidden there in the other Pirates movies.

That was wonderful! Bravo! I loved that! Ah, that was great! Well, it was pretty good. Well, it wasn't bad. Uh, there were parts of it that weren't very good though. It could have been a lot better. I didn't really like it. It was pretty terrible. It was bad. It was awful! It was terrible! Take 'em away! Boo! Boo!

    Exclamation BBBBOOOOOring

Good lord, another animation "article" that says nothing new. Nor does it shed light on anything that hasn't been discussed elswhere months ago--and better. that omeon site is getting as silly as that awful fanboy geek site of mis-information jim hill. Only with FAR better grammar (and usually better writing, if only on par (read SUB-par) "reporting.")

Some of us wanted a resolution with the last episode! We got POTC 2 for Christmas, watched it that night, and by the end, I was like, you've got to be kidding me!!! The whole movie was just a setup for POTC 3??? I was so peeved (to put it nicely)...

I'm Kind of sick of this pirate stuff. They wern't good people or good rolemodels. I know there were movies about the nightstalker but nobody is running around dressing like him. He did the same thing as a pirate like steal, murder and rape. Why isn't he also a role model?
Does you want some of my gum?
