Okay....for my review, first I need some sympathy.
Both ships are swirling around in the watery vortex! Rain is falling, swords are flashing and....!
My son has to go to the bathroom.
For me, I almost enjoyed the entire film except for the fact that the wheels kept popping off the plot and I need at least SOME semblance of verisimilitude during a film such as this. The dog didn't need to show up again with the keys, Larry seems like a 20th century name, Captain Jack parasailing on a chance piece of canvas with Elizabeth and the monkey, an undead crew suddenly can be driven away by swords and guns, everyone is afraid of Keith Richards but if he's not one of the lords, why does anyone care, why is Barbosa a lord if he was Jack's first mate, pirate lords who look like clowns and who were WAY too cartoonish, and a parlay on a stretch of sand in which it would have made far more sense for all five of them to kill Beckett and be done with it, Tia Dalma changing into a mountain of crabs and then after creating an inconsequential whirlpool ceases to be a concern to anyone....
The frustrating thing is that I think if the writers had been a bit more thoughtful, we could have had some amazing plot twists AND would have been swept up into the plot in a less cartoonish fashion. It was fun, but at points I felt they were going for the quick laugh rather than keeping us at the edge of our seats.
Still a good film. I grudgingly gave it four out of five.
