Harry Potter goes to Universal Parks

After years of speculation, NBC/Universal has entered a binding agreement with J. K. Rowling to bring Harry Potter to Universal Studios with it's own theme park in Orlando, Florida.

Who would be able to create and operate the better Potterland, Disney or Universal?

This is so awesome I cant wait to see it, I have a feeling that they will do it right, unlike the projects Disney has come up with lately. Lets hope Disney responds with a large project without being such penny pinching misers. I think this is the begining of some real competition in Orlando.

Sounds like a great idea only bad side... I live in CA and its quite far away. On a good note though hopefully this will stir Disney to come up with some new good ideas.

This is gonna be great, Universal are going to spend a whole lot of money on a Franchise that will be dead in 5 years. I've never liked either the books or the filmes but it's blatantly obvious that it's the books that really drive the franchises popularity as (for some reason) adults seem to enjoy reading them as well, and the last one is about to come out! Once the hoopla for the launch of that has died out (so way before the park rides are done) there's going to be very little interest in the franchise apart from when movies come out and thats only if they manage to keep the main characters believable age wise.
Sure, kids will probably read the odd Potter book or maybe even the whole series when they get to the right age much like they still read the Famous Five or other childrens ranges but the adult readership will probably be ending and so will all the Potter buzz. I am so glad Disney didn't manage to ink this deal; between Potter and Pixar I would want Pixar without even thinking.

I'm so excited for this! If this is done right, I will definitely make sure I have a day in my WDW vacation planned for IoA once it's open. IHarry Potter!
