Children's Place seems to be getting the OLC treatment: "Here's your license; now do it our way or else! Pay no attention to how we run our own parks (for OLC) or how we used to run Disney Stores (for Children's Place). You have our reputation to live up to, even as we can't anymore."

My understanding was that they remodled stores in key locations, sort of as a test... The story sort of fell off the chart with Child's Place wanting to renegotiate the terms of the contract... Sounds like Disney said, "uh, no!"

I wonder if mt store was a remodeled one? It sure looks nice inside, with a great variety of merch. I enjoy it! And spend too much money there!!

From what I've seen, they've redone most of the fronts of the stores, replacing them with a red mickey head as the entrance, doing away with the large screen at the back of store fronted by shelves of many stuffed disney characters.

Lame. Guess our store's going down again. Honestly though, the frist remodel was pretty terrible. Very steril and unfriendly. They've been telling us for over a year now that we're going to get some kind of quick refurb (if you will) but no one could decide on a design.
Let's hope the re-do is worth it

And yes they do still have the big screens in the back

(1st perhaps all the Children's Place/Disney Store topics today
    can be merged)

I talked to one manager of a local Disney Store (which had
the big red Mickey front and cheap white plastic display/
emergency room/ sterile look. She said the most recent
plans are to remove the video altogether. The upcoming
next newest look will have new shelves and wood floors
(not sure what the rest will include)

Let's hope that with the "talks" they had with Disney,
that CP will ADD BACK the colorful real 3D character displays
in the upper perimeter, which has exististed in some formation
in every style of the Disney Store, until CP came along.

Oh, just to add, there is a new Disney Store that will be
opening to me, in October so we will hopefully see a much
improved new look in a few months

Re: Child's Place to remodel all Disney Stores

The Glendale one nearest to me was remodeled in the early 2000's and took on the modern Gap style with the walls colored in bright pinks, blues, and pruples, the flooring replaced and simple wood shelves with mickey mouse hand columns. Nothing exciting, but nothing all that bad. It falls short of what the store used to be. The sign also was swapped out for Disney store instead of THE Disney STORE.

Now the Santa Anita a little further away was remodeled from the black motion film strip look of the 80's not too long ago. It was replaced with the white and red Mickey head theme at the entrance with cheap murals on the walls and an awfully cheap, plastic looking Mickey in the center. This was the Children's Place look. Ugly to say the least.

I hope they get it right this time. Why don't they ditch the cheap, modern theme and go with something subtle and classic. None of these ugly colors, cheap murals, and sterile entrances. The stores have gotten very plastic and cheap looking; just like the merchandise. They don't look like they would belong to Disney. Subtle, but classy Disney is the best way to go, not over-the-top, in your face princess and Mickey.

Re: Child's Place to remodel all Disney Stores

Yeah there are most that still have the big screens in the back, but not joined by the large supply of stuffed animals which is reminiscent of the parks. But, the one down here in the Westminister mall still has the old design and large screen in back with all the animals. In most of the new ones, you can barely see the screens now. If you see the older ones, it's got the large glass displays at the entrance, kinda like the windows at the Emporium at Disneyland and it has the large open store with the screen in back above an assortment of Disney stuffed merchandise. Those kind of stores had the feeling of being inside the parks and those are the kind I miss.

That would be a Mickey store - which was TCP's first remodel of TDS. They learned a lot as they remodeled each of the stores as to what worked and what didn't with different parts of the concept and because of that the first few stores that were remodeled are in terrible shape.
