Well its the sequel to Cars. From what I heard it takes place a few years after Cars. In it McQueen and Sally have settled down in Radiator Springs, when Lightning's old manager comes back, demanding he finish his race contract. But Lightning is tired of the racing life. So he sets off with Mater and Luigi to find his replacement, his cousin Flash MCQueen. Oh and have I mentioned that Sally is pregnant with triplets!

    ...

No wait, that's Shrek III. My mistake.

I liked Cars, but I don't think they need to do a sequel. Just because it was popular, does not mean a sequel needs to be made.

I'm with Tui on this one. If there is one thing I don't want, it's a Cars sequel... but we all know how I feel about the first one.

This all goes back to the idea of 'milking an idea for all it's worth'. I thought the first cars movie was good, but leave it there - why does Disney constantly make sequels to everything? Do they lack that much imagination that they have to make a sequel to an already hatched idea? And for the record, I think PoTC's first movie could've stood on it's own and been a non-sequelled movie - but again, here is Disney milking the idea for all it's worth.

I don't think there should be a sequel to Cars.

It's probably about two hours long.

It's impossible to say if it's a good idea or not, other than for me, the best thing about Cars was the look and feel; I'm still amazed at how they did the neon lighting.

We'll just have to wait a couple of years and see if they can recreate that magic again. Route 66 was a long road!

(PS Oh, Lord, my 1000th post. What do I do now?)

I really hope that now that Disney owns Pixar we don't start getting Pixar Cheapquels.

Although Toy Story 2 was GREAT (maybe better than the first) not sure how many times lightning can strike.

Then again, I'd LOVE to see A Bugs Life 2 as that's my favorite of the Pixar movies.

I wasn't thrilled with the first one, and I'm not sure if the concept could be improved upon either...

    Oh, boy. Sequel Mania!
as much as my son would LURVE to have more Cars movies, I think they should leave this one well enough alone.

Maybe they should just make a tractor tipping movie...

    Re: Cars 2?!?

As long as they stick the original type of animation and the same character voices!!!! and don't cheapen it (like every other sequel - lilo and stitch, cinderella II, etc.) If it's going to be a full length movie released in theaters - it probably will be good, but if it's another straight to DVD, I'll probably miss it.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

They've been milking this movie since it came out, in my opinion. The ridiculous amount of merchandise, the ride, the land (although, to be fair, the land apparently isn't just going to be about the movie)... I don't want a sequel, but I wouldn't be particularly surprised if it happened.

That said, if there HAS to be a sequel, I'd hope it was done by Pixar and had more effort put into it than the DTV cheapquels. Toy Story 2 was good because Pixar worked hard on it.

I agree with Sir Clinksalot about A Bug's Life, since that's my favourite Pixar movie as well.

    Re: Cars 2?!?

sequels are part of the business now - virtually to be expected.

Not quite the same as theatre was in the 40s, 50s, and even through the early 70s.

Instead then you got clone movies.. or simple genres. I mean, how many John Wayne westerns... etc.

Now you have a tried and true piece of capital, its the 'safe' bet to work with.
