Oh wait, you're right, Be Our Guest is in 4/4, sorry my bad.

Yes Jesse! Everytime I hear "Part of Your World" I think about Audrey's "Somewhere That's Green" too! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I am a fan of his stuff, too, caveats aside.

So yeah, Gn2Dnlnd is right, I think. Granted the actual written melody in score for Les Poissons is very different from the sung quasi-improvisation, I guess it's close enough to Be Our Guest, but I would stop short of saying they are identical.

Yes! Good job Gn2Dlnd, very inventive metering with text! Most excellent! Oh, they're even both in the key of G, I just heard them both back to back (though Guest modulates, while the Fishies stay steady). Cough, shameMenkenshame, cough....

And we have another winner! "Le Poisson" and "Be Our Guest" are virtually the same song. Not identical, but the melodies and harmonies are close enough that you could sing "Be Our Guest" while listening to "Le Poisson". And "Le Poisson" even begins the vocal slowly like "Be Our Guest":

    "Le...Pois...son, Le Poisson..."
    "Be...Our...Guest, Be Our Guest..."

As someone mentioned, this happens a lot in Alan Menken's writing. I love Alan Menken's work, so I just find it funny and odd, rather than annoying and shameful.

Congrats Mousepod and Gn2Dlnd. You've won your choice of the following:

    Vogue Smilie -
    Pirate Smilie -
    50th Mouse Ears Smilie -
    or
    Monkey -

(Although I wouldn't choose if I were you. He's naughty...)

Wow, a completed thread and no derail.

    Okay here's one:
Well-known internet tune, so popular it was used in a tv commercial, sounds exactly like a sped-up version of a Disney tune. In both cases there is an animal associated with the tune. What are the two animals, and what Disney film is it?

(hint: the Disney film is known to be of the "repeating rocks and trees and bushes" school of background art)

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Oooh! I just noticed this one last week! It's the Hampster Dance song, and it's a sped up version of the opening song from Robin Hood.
"I don't need intelligent drugs because I don't know what they are. But I will put anything into my mouth that is given to me, whether it's supposed to go there or not. Because... I'm different."
