We are in the process of purchasing a DVC resale through the Timeshare Store - I really checked them out before we bought. We just passed ROFR and are awaiting our final closing. I can't wait to make a reservation. Our home resort is OKW and from what I have read, it a great place to stay.
I've been a member since Nov. 2005 and I love it. A couple of my CM friends are members too. We all have Saratoga. They've used their points in London and Monterey Bay. I've used mine in Washington DC, in addition to the WDW resorts.
I would not finanace through Disney if possible, their rates are quite high
They were running a promo, either $10 per point off, or bonus points equal to double your yearly points, however you had to use them within 7 months. You got this deal only if you signed up within three days of returning home
Every person I talked to connected with DVC - sales, customer service, financial, bus drives, etc has been extremely friendly and helpful.
My fees are about $700 a year. But after I take out for property tax refunds and discounts (especialy my and my two kids AP's) they are almost a wash.
It may sound hokey, but it is kind of nice when you hear "Welcome Home" all over the place
I was carrying the stuff from the DVC tour around in the parks and no less than 3 people approached me, unsolicited, to tell me about how happy they are with the DVC
So far I am very happy with the DVC. Go on the "tour" - its very low pressure and takes about 90 minutes,
Oh, I took the bonus points - my kids and I go on a Disney Cruse the end of August
"I'm gonna build my own amusement park. But with gambling and hookers!" - Bender
"You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity." - Bullet Tooth Tony
I too am thinking of buying into DVC. We went to the open house during our recent stay at the Grand Californian. I'm in the process of running some spreadsheets and scenarios to see if it's something we really want to tie ourselves up with. Any one have anything bad to say about DVC? I've heard the good, but want to know of any hidden bad surprises.
