Well, we went and saw Ratatouille today. Regardless of what you may think (or not think) about the movie, there's just something about the last four Pixar films that stands out--the "look and feel" of the films.
There's a saying in opera that no one ever applauds the sets. While not strictly true in opera, I'd like to take this opportunity to applaud Pixar for looking after those small details that just make their films that much more enjoyable. From the great colors of the reefs in Finding Nemo, to the classic art deco kitsch of The Incredibles (look for the square olive green melmac drinking cup), to the great roadside highway art of Cars, to the true look and feel not only of Paris, but of some of its restaurants, it's these "little things" (to some) and attention to detail that trule, to me, makes the films so enjoyable.
