So, I was practically dragged kicking and screaming to the sneak last night by my husband. He was super-excited, as I am sure are most men his age, about the movie and we have had tickets for weeks. I went just to humor him and maybe experience part of his childhood with him (he still gets transformers as birthday gifts). Not knowing what I would think of the movie. I actually liked it. A lot in fact. We saw the film in a theater with digital projectors and the effects are really awesome, its the next step in CGI, I think. All the effects and explosions are offset by a sense of humor and lots of reverence for the source material. Sometimes it seems like a lengthy commercial for GMC cars, but all in all, this is what summer movies are about. It is sure to create a whole new generation of fans. In the screening I attended, the house was full of young males of a certain age, laughing, cheering, and applauding.

I recommend it enthusiastically! I got chills and didn't expect to. Also, watch for a pretty brilliant trailer for an untitled J.J. Abrams project. I have no idea what the movie is called or what is about, but it certainly piqued my interest!

When Peter Cullen's Optimus Prime started Narrating in the beginning I was so excited. Hearing the transforming sound was great too. Also I really liked hearing lines from the animated movie

Same reaction we had to that trailer. We were like "I don't know what that is, but it's got me intrigued!"

Now back to Transformers.... I went in cautiously optimistic that it would at least be a fun summer action flick that didn't ruin the source material too badly. I was simply hoping to LIKE it. I walked out completely blown away, stuttering and saying that I LOVED it. It had its flaws of course, but I enjoyed it so much that I'm only just now, hours later, coming down from the high enough to analize those flaws. Gotta say it's my most enjoyed film of the summer thus far.

You know, I've said on more than one occasion that I'm really not looking forward to the movie. The trailers just haven't WOWED me and they look alot like War of the Worlds (which I HATED) ... but reading the reviews here, and other places has me re-thinking that.

Long live the Autobots!!!! I saw it last night and was blown away. I didnt expect much more then a bunch of great fighting scenes thrown together (it is based on an 80's cartoon after all) solely because of the last few years worth of cartoon, comic, etc. adapted movies, but this one had everything you could want and more. Hearing Optimus's voice and the transforming sound for the first time will give you chills.

Bumblebee though was the best of the robot characters. I was genuinely sad when they take him down in the ravine and when he gets his legs blown off, who would've known

Did everyone see the lil extra scene half-way through the credits???

I was fortunate enough to see it last Thursday at the Transformers Convention. It was phenomenal!! Plus there is nothing like seeing it in a theater completely full of Transformers fans. We were also treated to a special appearance by Tyrese and the girl that plays Maggie in the film (sorry I can't remember her name, but she was the analyst with the Austrailian accent... guess I was too busy staring to pay attention to her name, heheh).

I am going to see it again tonight... and probably again this weekend. I absolutely LOVE this movie. Can't wait for the sequels

I went into this movie not knowing what to expect. I loved the cartoon. Sat in front of the tube every day. I still have all my toys in the garage (I know, I will get them out soon). I was hoping to come out of the movie not hating it like I have so many other things they have redone (a la Godzilla. What the hell was that?)

I have to say that I LOVE this movie. It was awesome. I had no idea it would be this good. Truly amazing! I was disappointed with the lack of one of my favorite characters, but c'est la vie. A must see. Especially at a theater with a kick butt sound system. I don't get emotional very often, but I got goose bumps several times in the movie.

Brief plot if you must know:

It is called Cloverfield. At least that is one of the working titles, along with Parasite. It's about an invasion of giants on the earth, and the entire movie is shot on home movie cams to give the impression that it is the experience of the average Joe. Think sci-fi Blair Witch Project, but with an FX budget.

I thought it was great, but I still hate that Optimus has lips. Except when in "battle mode" that is...

After I left the theater my girlfriend and I realized that Jazz was voiced by Eddie Winslow from Family Matters. Hilarious.

One thing that irked me a little bit was that fact that they resorted to such stupid little gags like Bumblebee "lubricating" John Turturro or Optimus saying, "my bad". And was it just me or did the Autobots seem a little clumsy and kind of stupid at first? And man, it was so sad to see Bumblebee get taken down in that canal!

I loved this movie. I think this movie was much much much better than Pirates. I really hope they don't make a sequal to this movie. This is one of those movies they should never touch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went with my friends and my husband last night at 8. I like going to these things early because all of the true fans are in the theater. They clapped and hooted on many occasions. That made it more fun. But I actually liked the movie a lot. I watched Transformers in the 80s sort of. I didn't really watch the cartoon religiously but my brother watched it. I liked the girly shows so I appreciated the kid in the movie with her giant stuffed My Little Pony. Ha! There were a few small things in the movie that bugged me, like the cheesy humor at times, but I actually enjoyed all of the actors who were cast. The effects were wonderful. AND I didn't fall asleep. During the first action sequence I whispered to my husband, "If the rest of it is this much action, I'm going to fall asleep!" (I fall asleep during movies with constant action--overstimulating? boring? dunno.) But the movie actually kept my attention. During the first half of the movie I was enjoying it so much that I think I smiled the whole time. Also, I have to mention Sam's parents. They were so funny, they reminded me of my kooky parents.

In sum: it's a crowd-pleasing summer blockbuster-type movie with a great balance of action, comedy, effects, story, and homage.

As for the trailers--I was just thinking, I don't need to see these new zombie/disaster movies, I just need to take out our Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later DVDs. Looked similar enough.

No thanks. But when there's TWO threads about the Transformers movie, I thought I could find at least one place to just write about whatever. And it's not about 2 seconds of time. I just want to read through everyone else's thoughts too without having to highlight everything constantly.
