Re: Alvin and The Chipmunks... THE MOVIE (live action)

Actually, ToF, there are a number of DVDs available of the older animated shows and specials. Most are available under $10 too, so it's pretty affordable to revisit them. I haven't seen full season releases, but you can get the animated film, Christmas special and several collections of episodes.

I guess I might be the only one who may like this film. I luv Jason Lee.

Noooooo. Guess Hollywood is running out of ideas for movies and have to mess with childhood memories. Poor Jason Lee. This movie will flop in the box office.

My thoughts exactly. I loved Simon and Theodore because Simon LOOKED nerdy and Theodore LOOKED shy. Now they all just look like Alvin but with different sweaters.

Mine do. We have the Alvin & The Chimpunks movie. You know, the one where its them vs the Chipettes and they have to travel around the world? Granted its an old old old VHS copy....but they've seen it.

    Aww, dangit
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Aww jeez... does Jason Leigh just say "yes" to anything now? Attaching himself to this horrible-looking "Underdog" movie is bad enough. Now being front and center in another live-action cartoon movie is just a bad career move. He sure has strayed quite far from the greatness of his Brodie character in "Mallrats".

Re: Alvin and The Chipmunks... THE MOVIE (live action)

Heaven help us. This looks just like the Transformers movie. They took a previously successful but now mostly defunct property, decided to revive it and handed it to someone with absolutely no idea what that property was or meant. So, they proceed to completely make up their own idea, which has little to no resemblance to the original, and shove it down our throats as an “updating” of the story and characters we all loved. I'm pretty sure that they'll also make a live action Tail Spin where Baloo has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder due to his many combat missions over Iraq and Wildcat has substance abuse problems, a Gummi Bears film featuring the Bears as New Age hippies fighting to save a redwood forest from being clearcut by government connected oil corporations, and a Rainbow Brite flick featuring Rainbow trying to move on and put her life as a stripper with mob ties behind her.

I think someone should make an independent film about a sleazy producer named Hollywood Sux who uses a secret machine to travel back in time, reading peoples’ minds and stealing their dreams and ideas, then turning them into cheap, mass produced “experiences” for his customers in order to make quick, easy money to fund his own ego driven, drug addicted and narcissistic lifestyle. In the end everyone realizes that he’s just robbing people of their own memories and fantasies, so they turn their backs on him and he slowly withers away to nothing, finally ending up as an empty shell lying in an alley as new, creative producers from foreign countries arrive and find great success by giving his previous customers new, original experiences.

I’d pay to see that one.

Read the first post. It's Jason Lee of "my name is earl" fame.

Am I the only one who thought that it looked like Stephen Colbert was doing this movie? I mean, seriously. SOMEONE tell me I'm not delusional.

And, yes, I recall seeing the Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie on DVD, but I was referring back to the much, MUCH older cartoons (although those weren't in my generation anyhow (I'm 18))

I wouldnt say Jason Lee isn't a "real star". The guy has been in quite a few movies and has a pretty successful show on TV (it is, right?)
