Last I heard, Warren Beatty still holds the rights. And as with The Rocketeer, that time has probably passed. We might have to wait until 20 or 30 years later for another set of hands to give it another try.

Yes, I know Warren Beatty still holds the rights.

    So unfortunate.

That's why somebody that'll do good for the franchise really needs to get those rights from him.

Rocketeer -- I'm just fine with a single movie for that. Especially since, unlike Dick Tracy and The Shadow, it doesn't have a long history of being a serial.

I have always loved this movie and would watch it everytime it came on television when I was a kid. Love the score as well. :]

I love The Rocketeer too. I bought the DVD on a whim after not having seen the film in years. I watch it all the time. It is a particular favorite amongst my friends too. We would play it a lot during long nights in studio working on school projects.

Off topic- I thought Bill Campbell did a superb job as well. Then when the movie "Enough" came out with J LO, Bill's character freaked me out but he proved his diversity in movies.

It's funny that The Rocketeer and Dick Tracy get all the attention, but another comic movie, Popeye, doesn't get much attention. Popeye was a good one too.

    I love that movie....

Probably, though, it's more because Rocketeer and Dick Tracy came out about the same time (relatively)... They were big parts of the early days of Disney-MGM because of that.

Rocketeer is one of my favorite comics. It is a close second to Nexus. If you've not read the comic it is based on, you are cheating yourself. They put them all into a graphic novel that is a great read. And the art by Dave Stevens is the best. He does the 1940's cheesecake style perfectly.
