Disney Mexico touched by 'Angel'

Studio picks up rights to local production

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Mexico has picked up distribution rights in Mexico for the locally produced "Llamando a un angel."

Comedy follows three characters with the same name, Angel Flores Fuentes, who each receive a desperate phone message by mistake that sends them through a life-changing turn of events.

Film, which premiered at the Guadalajara Film Festival earlier this year, is directed by tyro helmers Hector Rodriguez, Pancho Rodriguez and Rodolfo Guzman. Pic was produced through their Karmafilms shingle and exec produced by Pedro Araneda, head of the Mexico City-based film school Universidad del Cine. Disney will release the film in November.

Disney's Latin American production arm, Buenavista, is prepping is third Mexican pic following local hits "Ladies Night" and "Tired of Kissing Frogs."
