    Home Alone

I love these movies!! I can watch them over and over no matter what time of year. Well, the first 2 at least. Home Alone 3 doesn't count to me.
I went home for lunch today and had the luck of #2 being on HBO!
How many of you guys liked these movies??

I'd love to see Chris Columbus make a new one!

    Re: Home Alone

I love both of them (I disregard the third and fourth - I happened to catch the fourth on a coach ride to Busch Gardens from Orlando, it was revoltingly sugary).

Both have their qualities. I don't know which one I prefer, the 2nd is definitely an equal to the first, if not better. But the scene that gets me in both films - and I'm sure it gets everyone else - is when Kevin meets up with his mum at the end. Sniffle.

Oh, and in the second one, the pigeon lady. Bless her.

DH and I always stop and watch these whenever we see them as we are flipping through the channels. As has been said, only 1 and 2. Didn't even know there was a 4!

    Re: Home Alone

The first two are the only 2 that exist to me. I loved those and love to watch them.
I remember after seeing them for the first time, my brothers and I would try to booby-trap the house and each other and make blue prints about what we wanted to do.

Best christmas movies, #2 only to Christmas Vacation, imo.

    Re: Home Alone

    There's a 4th one????????????
    It must have been bad!

Everything about these movies I love. The music totally makes it "Christmastime" for me. Little things in the 1st movie made me like it the best but I agree, the 2nd is very close. I still flinch when Marv and Harry get hit with things. There's no way anyone would be able to do what they do after the torture they get but they keep going. Anyone want to get whacked with a crowbar across their ribs????

I was a kid when it came out so the little touches I liked a lot! The Micro Machines, the Nike's, the Jordan poster in Buzz's room, etc, etc...all of that was stuff I liked and wanted as a kid.

Kevin would be 25 now. That's old enough to have kids but not old enough to have kids around the age he was doing the things he did.
Maybe Buzz and their sisters or cousins could have kids doing all the things Kevin did. That way the old cast could still be a part of it. Maybe Kevin can be the babysitting Uncle for the weekend and he can help them.
    Just an idea.

    Re: Home Alone

I've only seen the first one and only in the theater when I was in high school. That kind of physical comedy makes me cringe too much to enjoy it!

Weird. My mom and I were just talking about this the other day.

I'm a fan of the first one and I quote it on a regular basis. So many good lines to steal!

"When I grow up and get married, I'm living alone!" I say that one a lot.

I've only seen the first two. I liked them both. The third one just didn't interest me.

    Re: Home Alone

I liked the first two, especially the second one. I had an emotional (and financial) tie to a blow-up of one Bozo T. Clown. I wrote for the guy for 2.5 years when he was on WGN from 1993 through 1996.

Those type of movies wouldn't be successful nowadays but the second one is the best one. I know I am not the only one who got that (at the time) awesomely cool toy, the Talkboy.

Do you throw a tantrum and jump on the stairs when you say it?

My brother and I always use, "That's real crystal. Put em in your purse, PUT EM IN YOUR PURSE."
    and
"I bought the milk, eggs, and fabric softener."

In my head I tell people, "Look what you did you little Jerk."

You don't think an updated one would bring people in? It's still a favorite Christmas movie so I think it could do pretty good if it had some of the original cast, somehow, and was made well.
    You had one?!
I wasn't lucky enough to get one but I had a lot of friends that did.

Gangster 'Johnny': Hey! I tell you what I'm gonna give you, Snakes. I'm gonna give you to the count of 10 to get your ugly, yellow, no-good keister off my property before I pump your guts full of lead! One, two, ten!
    [machine gun fire]
Gangster 'Johnny': Keep the change, you filthy animal!

    Then there's:

Kevin McCallister: You guys give up yet? Or are you thirsty for more?

I think after the last two releses, everyone just wants the series to go away. The first two are classics but by todays standards, it would be a bad movie. That type of comedy is dead and yes, I did have one and it was cooler in the movie.

    Maybe.

And then I wonder aloud "I made my family disappear?"

"Are these microwave dinners any good? I'll give 'em a whirl."

That whole scene at the grocery store, where the clerk is quizzing him. "Where do you live?" "I can't tell you that, you're a stranger!"

I just discovered that my son hasn't watched this movie yet. We may have to make time for some early Christmas viewing this week.
