The Film Crew: A MST3K alternative

So, yesterday I watched the first DVD release of The Film Crew's version of "Hollywood After Dark." Basically, the premise is that Bill Corbett, Kevin Murphy, and Mike Nelson, the 3 hosts of Mystery Science 3000, have been recruited to provide DVD commentary to every DVD that doesn't currently have one. What we wind up getting is a wonderful recreation of the basic idea behind MST3K: making fun of bad movies.

Though there are no silhouettes during the film, you quickly forget that, as you begin to just revel in pure joy at the return of these 3 making fun of a truly awful film. The commentary is just as funny as the best episodes of MST3K, and it really is great that all 3 of the people who were on the last few seasons of the show. It's like old times again.

As these are only available on DVD, I suggest you take a look. The second one came out today. If it's as good as Hollywood After Dark was, I hope these continue for just as long as MST3K did.
