The sidewalks still roll up at 10PM downtown except in front of a very, very few clubs and resturants. Even the coffee shops close early.
Sacramento, Sacratomato, Tomatotown, Cowtown, That Stop on the Way to Tahoe...whatever - we are almost as progressive as Fresno, and will never be a "World-Class" city like San Francisco. Our City and County leadership don't have the intellectual horsepower to even keep what they have solvent, let alone think about the future.
As previously stated - the State Fair at Cal Expo is usually sweltering. Eat enough of those deep-fried snickers, drink enough of those $6 beers, ride enough of those questionably maintained rides on the midway, and the sweltering heat will be the least of your worries.
i was at the press event the night before the opening of the fair. The place where the Disney folks (Dave Smith, Voice of Cinderella, Model of Tinkerbell, and a few others) are going to be set up is going to be limited in space. It's very cramped, but it looks alright. Nice train display and the Nike Transformers are really cool. I'll be out there Sunday (tomorrow) and on the 26th.
