Yup - Johnny is singing - the musical is great - if this resurrects it again I would encourage everyone to see it - the play only has so much gore - the movie, well, it is Tim Burton - and it will be dark - I'm expecting a decent amount of blood and gore - remember the wife makes the meat pies and what exactly are the pies made from???? well the play did make it humorous

I'm surprised that it will be a musical! Great! Still, I think if it gets an R rating that will be a deal killer for me -

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

Actually Johnny (not that we are on first name basis or anything LOL) was talking about singing - saying that he doesn't have the best voice and he was lucky Tim Burton was able to deal with him - I have heard, in an interview, that Johnny wants to do all kinds of film - from the obscure to the blockbuster - he even joked of doing a porn (heck if you've seen the Libertine, it gets close - I haven't been able to get past the fist 10 minutes I got too embarrassed!) It's still a must see for me - Sweeny Todd that is LOL

The part from the musical that is really disturbing is Judge Turpin's storyline, with the icky incest and self-flagellation. That alone could probably get the R rating. The rest is definitely dark, but it's funny and clever. Aside from the first murder, to my recollection you don't actually see any others take place. They just make pies and sing about it.

Still, you have to remember Tim Burton might change that a bit...but I guess we'll have to wait and see....at least until the rating comes out.

Yeah, that's usually the first bit that gets cut out of the show. No word on whether it's in or out yet. We'll see. But since people were concerned about the rating, I thought I'd better tip that hand up front for the squeamish.

It sort of is a bit resurrected already... I know it will be playing in Columbus during the next season and those are pretty much always touring shows.

I'm sure Jersey Girl helped boost its popularity in recent years slightly.
