I just speed read thru this article!Pretty cute little ode to the by-gone attraction.... I like the fond tone of the article.
Cute article, one glaring error:
Another change: a switch in that old film-to-ride evolution. That first happened in 2002, when the company took a shot at turning the fading glory of the Country Bears (Audio-Animatronic veterans of two show-style attractions) into movie stardom.
The movie, alas, bombed. So the Walt Disney Co. tried the same with another attraction, the Haunted Mansion. The 2003 Eddie Murphy vehicle was a mild success but, well, there’s a reason you haven’t seen any sequels.
The third time, of course, was the charm, and thanks to Johnny Depp a 1969 theme park ride became the basis of a billion-dollar-plus movie franchise. Disneyland is milking it for all it’s worth: The original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction has now been altered to look more like the movie it inspired (are you following?) and pirates have now been spotted running amok on Tom Sawyer Island.
Pirates actually was released before Haunted Mansion. But, yes, it did get even more popular and the sequels were announced after HM was released, yet still...
I was just about to post that article when I saw it was already in the main thread. I loved it. They ARE things I miss too!!I've been going to DL since 1967 and have seen most of them. Sad that they no longer exist, but, some would be outdated now, even though I'd still love to see them!
Way back when, I enjoyed all of those attractions. Back then I thought that they would always be around, and well, now they aren't.
Just goes to show, enjoy what you have, when you have it, it may be gone tomorrow!
Oh, but to experience most of those attractions just one more time!

What is, is... What is not, is not.
Boom!
I don't ask for much... Just a few little things!
Extra effort yields extraordinary results!
Did anyone mention the year already? The third time, of course, was the charm, and thanks to Johnny Depp a 1969 theme park ride became the basis of a billion-dollar-plus movie franchise.
