It always makes me sad when he gets back and can't fly anymore though. I kinda don't want life to continue...lol
But I guess playtime had to end some time. huh?
I love Peter Pan but never thought Hook was very good. Am I the only one who doesn't like it?
As someone who owns Hook, Peter Pan (2003 PJ Hogan edition - or as we call it in our house "cute boy Peter Pan edition), 2 different editions of Disney's Peter Pan, Return to Neverland AND the Broadway DVD with Kathy Rigby as Peter, (oh, and Finding Neverland, since it fits in the same subject) I can say that some reason, I absolutely LOVE Hook more and more with each watching. I introduced my daughter to it and she likes it, but "cute boy peter pan" is still her favorite (duh, she's 9!). In fact, she is the one in our house that barely heard 5 notes when the Disney commercial first came on using the music from the PJ Hogan (universal!!) movie - and she KNEW it was from Peter Pan. She was screaming it too! "MOM! That music...it's from Cute Boy peter pan!!"
We tend to watch all the versions now and then, it depends on the mood. Last year when my daughter was home sick I think she spent the entire day on the couch and watched both Disney movies, Hook and of course, saved cute boy for last.
I love my awesome crazy wonderful friends!!
"Do you remember in kindergarten, how you’d meet a kid, then 10 seconds later you’d be playing like you were best friends?"* * *
I guess that I must be the only big Peter Pan fan around here that does not care all that much for Hook. I think the music and cinematography were great. Duston Hoffman was great as Hook and Bob Hoskins was great as Smee. But I did not care for the crazy outfits the "Lost Boys" where wearing, did not care for Tinkerbell being a real person instead of just a ball of light and biggest complaint ever: PETER PAN DOES NOT EVER GROW UP!!! That thought is just against everything bit of story that Peter Pan is all about. The Universal version is the best live action Peter Pan ever done. I saw the Sandy Duncan live show at the Pantages years ago and that was very well done. Saw the Mary Martin version when it was first shown on TV and loved it. Also have Disney's Peter Pan (My all time favorite) and Return to Neverland which is not as bad as a lot of people seem to think.
For me as a real Peter Pan fan the only part of Hook that I really enjoyed was the telling of Peter's background. The had a boy in that part that made the perfect Peter Pan as far as I was concerned and they never used that theme again. Only Universal caught on and made Jeremy Sumpter as real boy playing Peter Pan and I love that movie. It's closer to the book and so well done, and has Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy in the HP movies) as Hook. Jason does evil so well.
Peter Pan Forever!!! I Will Never Grow Up.

I love Peter Pan. I read the book like 3 times when I was 8 years old. I loved Hook as a kid, but just because I found it a very entertaining and well told story. I never really considered it a continuation of Peter's "real" story. Just a fun movie.
Ok I got two questions here. Did any of you watch the special features on the Disney Peter Pan platinum addition on DVD? Is it just me or did Spielberg somehow get a hold of some of Disney's rejected material from the cartoon. I know both got quite a bit from the book, but some things in Hook I hadn't seen in any book or play, and always thought they were Spielberg ideas until I watched the special features on Disney's Peter Pan. There were at least three that I can remember. One was the lost boy's imagined banquet scene, another was the side story of how Tink found and took Peter as a baby, the other was how Peter tried going back to his parents only to find the windows barred and another baby in his place. Were those in the book? It's been so long I really don't remember.
Other question, I know I can look at the credits but I always forget to. Was that one detective Phil Colins? You know the one, when Tootles says " I've forgotten how to fly."
He's the one that replies " Well.....One does."

I really like this movie but I hated Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell, she almost ruined the movie for me. I really liked the kid who plays Jack, Peter's son. He was also "kid" in Dick Tracy.
I loved the live action Peter Pan from a few years ago. My daughter used to watch that one over and over.
"Hook" is one of my favorite movies. I've seen all the mentioned Peter Pan videos except Return to Neverland. I should Netflix that.
Holy C**P, the Boo Box pirate was Glen Close?! I need to watch this movie again
According to IMDB, Inspector Good was indeed played by Phil Collins.

This movie was my first Peter Pan adventure.
I loved it so much that I got inmediately interested in Peter Pan story, it was so misterious at the same time.
Because ,yes, I never saw Disney´s Peter Pan movie before Hook, in my younger years I wasnt interested in Peter Pan because I wasnt a fan of human characters, my favs Disney movies were all the animal character movies.
I love Robin William as adult PP, I love the way he fly, perhaps the main reason of my loving for this movie and Peter Pan.
I love Hoffman as Hook, looks like Disney´s Hook jumpig to real life.
I love Hook, it was my hook to Peter Pan.
