Of particular note that occurred to me:

"Desperate Housewives" received a total of 15 nominations, including best comedy series. Three of the lead actresses (Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman) also received nominations for best actress in comedy series. Only lead not nominated was Eva Langoria, which I would agree with since I don't think she's had nearly as much to do as the other three actresses. The show also received two guest actress in a comedy series nominations, one for Kathryn Joosten (playing Karen McCluskey) and one for Lupe Ontiveros (playing Mrs. Solis). I had to look up Karen McCluskey to remember who she was. She was Lynette's neighbor, the one who collapsed in her front yard and then Lynette ended up going with her to the hospital and then ended up being in a friendship with her of sorts. In looking up a picture of her, I remember her better as one of the versions of God in "Joan of Arcadia", though apparently, she's more famous for her role on "The West Wing". I'm also glad that the actress playing Mrs. Solis got nominated. She was very good.

Lost received a total of 12 nominations, including best drama series. They also received two nominations for supporting actor in a drama series, one for Naveen Andrews (Sayid) and one for Terry O'Quinn (Locke).

Patricia Arquette was nominated for best actress in drama series for "Medium", which I find a bit surprising. I watched the show for a while but then eventually dropped it. She was good, but I wouldn't have thought good enough for an Emmy nomination.

"Joan of Arcadia" received a nomination for Cloris Leachman as best guest actress in drama series. She was excellent in that show, so I'm glad for the nomination. And I really liked the show, so I'm sad that it was cancelled.

I disagree- I've watched ER for years, and never have I seen two actors give such amazing performances as Red Buttons and Ray Liotta. In Ray's case I would go as far as to see he gave the best performance of his career. Also the Martin Landau role on Without a Trace was breathtaking and Red Buttons deserves so post-humorous attention for his acting through the years.

    Re: 2005 Emmy Nominees Announced

I'm very excited to see The 4400 nominated. It's a great show. but why did I not know that it was a miniseries. I thought it was a regular series. I Just started watching it about a month ago. I thought it was just starting its second season. What are the qualifications that makes it a miniseries vs a regular series?

I love Lost too! but I have not watched the other drama series nominated so I can't really compare. But it is a great show and I hope it wins.
As far as comedy series, I think I'll go with the sentimental vote and say Everybody Loves Raymond. It really is a great show, but I've learned this from watching reruns, not sure why I didn't watch it regularly.

I agree with ah_shucks. Ray Liotta's performance on ER was one in a million. Fantastic! He should win it.
Well, I think you're crazy, I think you're crazy, I think you're crazy, just like me.

I do agree that it fits in comedy more than drama. It's just not what people usually think of as comedy since comedies are pretty much just sitcoms. Comedy is a lot harder to sustain for an hour than is drama.
