CANNES -- On the eve of MIPCOM, Disney unveiled several overseas broadcast deals for its cable phenom "High School Musical 2," which broke Disney Channel records in August.
The telefilm has been licensed to the BBC in the U.K., RTI in Italy, ProSieben in Germany, M6 in France, RTE in Ireland, Channel 1 Russia and SABC South Africa. In the Asia-Pacific region, CCTV6 China has grabbed it, as have Channel 7 Australia, TVNZ New Zealand and Studio 23 in the Philippines.
It likely will rack up more sales in Cannes during the five-day market, which opens Monday.
"HSM2" had its foreign over-the-air debut Sept. 29 on Net 5 in the Netherlands, amassing a 20% share among kids 6-12, up a massive 600% on Net 5's audience average for the slot.
