    X-FILES 2 Begins Production Dec 10.

    Date: Monday, October 29, 2007

A decade after the original theatrical version hit theaters and nearly 6 years after the show ended, the long awaited X-FILES sequel has an official production date set. Diva at CS! reports that director (and series creator) Chris Carter will begin lensing the sequel on December 10, 2007 in Vancouver. The only two confirmed stars we know about at this time are David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles of Fox Mulder & Dana Scully. The script for this sequel was handled by Frank Spotnitz and Carter.
For casting calls and pre-production, 20th Century Fox is referring to this project as "Done One".

I find it interesting that they are bringing X-Files back to Vancouver. We'll be hearing Duchovny complain about the rain once again.

    Long awaited?

I liked early X-Files (up to the movie and the season after it) but a movie now?

    Why?

X-FILES 2 Hits Theaters Next Summer

    By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
    Source: Hollywood Reporter
    Date: Thursday, November 1, 2007

After spending 10 years in development hell, Fox and Chris Carter are kicking this production into overdrive. Just last week, they announced a December 10 production start date. The Hollywood Reporter has now announced that Fox has set a release date, reporting that the long awaited X-FILES 2 will hit theaters on July 25, 2008. Frank Spotnitz and Chris Carter developed the script while series creator Carter will get behind the camera in directing David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The storyline is being reported as a supernatural thriller.
Plot Concept: All that is being revealed is that it is a "supernatural thriller" and that the movie will take the complicated relationship between FBI agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in unexpected directions as Mulder continues on his quest for the truth and Scully remains inextricably tied to her partner's pursuits.

    X-FILES 2 hits theaters everywhere July 25, 2008.

    I stopped at the movie.

I have such fond memories of watching the show with my roommates at college. I will want to see the new movie for nostalgia.

I was a huge fan of the Lone Gunmen. I hope they make it into the movie "somehow".

Will be interesting to see how much business this does so long after the show ended. I was semi-interested in the show and liked the movie, and I'll go see this (for whatever that's worth).

I know they said in the past it will be a standalone story, not tied into the alien mythology of the show so much. Will that help the movie, or hurt it I wonder?

There's an article on the BBC saying that it will be a supernatural story. Mulder and Scully as ghostbusters?

If I didn't have seasons 1 to 5, and the first movie already, I'd save my money to get this:

Sheesh, why has the X-Files always been so expensive on DVD? Shows with comparable amounts of seasons (Friends, Seinfeld, etc) sell for about $200 for the complete collections.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. I LOVED X-Files, but lost interest after the movie. I don't know, to me I guess iit just kind of lost its edge and it didn't pull me in anymore. There was just something missing.

With great DVD sales and beloved, enduring characters it makes sense to revisit and take the opportunity to continue their story (and better the last film as well).

Great casting choice, love Amanda Peet!

Threesome mark spots for 'X Files'

NEW YORK -- The new "X-Files" movie will be packing more heat. Rapper Xzibit, Amanda Peet and Billy Connolly have signed on for director Chris Carter's next big-screen adaptation of the hit series for Fox.

Sources said Xzibit and Peet will play fellow FBI agents to David Duchovny's Mulder and Gillian Anderson's Scully in the supernatural thriller with a stand-alone story, not a sequel or continuation of the hit 1998 feature adaptation. Citing a policy of secrecy surrounding the plot line, Fox would not confirm any details regarding the three actors' roles.

Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the screenplay, and production is expected to begin this month in Vancouver. The film is set to hit theaters in July.
