I saw the trailer while seeing Charlie and the C.F. and thought, wow this looks very Nightmare b4 Xmas-like (they even used some Nightmare music in the trailer). Not that I still won't go out and see it since I love Tim's work and love stop motion animation.
Anyway does anyone have any information as to why Touchstone isn't doing it like they did Nightmare? Just curious.

I'm not sure but I think it has to do with the fact that Tim Burton hates working with Disney. The only reason that Nightmare was made by Disney is because he came up with the concept when he was working as an animator for the studio and any ideas you pitch to a studio become studio property. Of course since he was just a nobody he was not able to make it. When he became successful and wanted to have his concept back for NBC Disney made him make it for them. He would have rather made NBC for anouther studio but he was stuck with Disney.
I just hope it doesn't cause another Burton/Elfman split, like Nightmare did...
On second hand, maybe I do! Burton can make a couple more movies that bomb because he doesn't have Elfman scores to support them, and Danny can do a vocal album! How awesome would that be? CatCF has made me miss Danny's singing...

A Danny record would be awesome. "So Lo" was WAY too long ago, and "Boingo" was even longer... I'm a Shore fan, too, so I don't mind him filling in for Danny on a movie or two...

I noticed that they used the score from other films as well... Including Adams Family (which was recycled by Lemony Snicket...)
I know it is a habit of some studios to do this, but I just hate watching a film and suddenly the movie reminds me of Robin Hood Prince of Theves...

okay i made a mistake and eat crow here. (damn drugs make me loopy!)
all his great films do have elfman. I love "Big Fish" and the score was so good that i didn't remember Danny elfman composing it! I am not a fan of the Batman films though. Besides Fish, Nightmare, Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and Frankenwienie are my absolute favorites so far.

As for Batman, the first one was the one I was referring to. That was a huge, powerful, groundbreaking score for Danny, and it really put him on the map for movie soundtracks. Since then, he's done so many good ones it's hard to cover them all. Even the flop that was Planet of the Apes had a great score...

Okay, they entire time I was watching CatCF I was thinking how great it was that Danny Elfman and Burton were back together because no one but him could have done the Oompa Loompa songs justice. Yay for the Oingo Boingo people!
Elfman has influenced some other movie composers, too. In Harry Potter 3, I know that John Williams was channeling his inner Elfman because, dang, I thought that score was Danny for a second.

Heh. Just saw the previews. I think that would be a great theme for Haunted Mantion! It always lacked a known story!
As it's a Warner Bros. Pictures' release it could be extremely costly.
