    Eisner on Jobs

    Simply pathetic...

    Eisner says blame Steve

In his keynote speech on Wednesday morning at the Media and Money conference hosted by Dow Jones and Nielsen, former Disney chief executive Michael Eisner called the ongoing Writer's Guild of America strike "stupid." He said the organization is lobbying for a bigger cut of the profits from digital distribution which he claims simply aren't there.

Eisner called the situation for "Web video" similar, in that the medium has yet to prove lucrative. However, he placed part of the blame on studios and networks for allowing themselves to be strong-armed by Apple and its chief executive.

The studios "make deals with Steve Jobs, who takes them to the cleaners," he said. "They make all these kinds of things, and who's making money? Apple! They should get a piece of Apple. If I was a union, I'd be striking up wherever he is."

I'm confused. Is it pathetic because he's Eisner or is it pathetic because the idea is pathetic?

I've found it hard to choose a side to support on this strike myself.

I'm not sure I'd call it "pathetic," but I definitely took Eisner's comments as a backhanded swipe against his former employer, considering Jobs' present involvement at Disney.

Michael really does make himself look like a bitter, ego-maniacal, corporate has been desperately struggling to be relevant in a world that has passed him by.

Even on his own talk show!

    Conversations with Michael Eisner
should bring back those "Kill Your Television" bumper stickers any day now.

ORDDU: Does Mr. Eisner have more than one son? My sisters and I don't know for certain, but we once got word from someone we know, who claimed that Mr. Eisner's son was a CEO for some sort of business that was involved with pornography and that he even won an award for running the company so well. It would be interesting to find out if any of that were true--just for our own personal information.

Eisner has two sons. Beck is a director. He directed Sahara for Paramount two years ago, I believe.

ORDDU: Hmmmm....so it's TWO sons he has, is it? It must be the OTHER one that was a CEO for the 'adult entertainment', then. Thank you for sharing what you knew, Monkey joe, dear.

    Re: Eisner on Jobs

well mr eisner is still a major stockholder in disney so he has a right to complain I guess and there has never been any love lost between jobs and eisner. remember that's why disney was going to lose the deal with pixar. and I agree with him on one thing. apple is making most of the money right now when it comes to downloads after all they set the price of the downloads. of course if he was still head of disney he would never have partnered with apple in the first place so there wouldn't be any downloaded materials.
