    Best Dreamworks animated film?

What do you think the best one is?
You can base your decision on quality of animation (CGI) story or character development, whatever...

    But which is best?

My vote goes to Over the Hedge

    Re: Best Dreamworks animated film?

They're all pretty horrible... but I haven't seen Bee Movie yet.

Over the Hedge was the most average of their catalog so it gets my vote.

    Shrek is 2nd.

    Then Madagascar.

Everything else is bottom of the barrel, don't waste your time.

    Re: Best Dreamworks animated film?

Just for a little clarification, these are the Dreamworks
CGI Animated Films. If you want to consider the other
Dreamworks animated films, you would also want to
    consider:

    The Prince of Egypt
    The Road to El Dorado
    Joseph: King of Dreams
    Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas

For the CGI DW films rating from 1 to 5 stars:

Antz: Blechhhhhh minus 2 stars (yeah not even in the range)
    Shrek: 3 1/2 stars (out of 5)
    Shrek 2: 3 stars
Shark tales : Barf minus 1 star (below the chart movie)
    Madagascar: 3 stars
Over the Hedge: zero stars (can't understand why anyone liked this movie)
Shrek the third: 2 1/2 stars (the ship is sinking)
    Bee Movie: 2 stars

as for the other dreamworks animated movies,

I did like Prince of Egypt.
Road to El Dorado, I wanted to like, but was only mediocre.
    Sinbad was pretty good.

    Re: Best Dreamworks animated film?

    Here's my take!

Best animation: the Spirit Stallion one
    Funniest: El Dorado
Animation that looks the ookiest because they spent all their time learning how to texture pores instead of pushing the animation: Shrek
Fav: Prince of Egypt, though Over the Hedge is alright too
Creepiest girl who also happens to be a plot-sucker: Chel (El Dorado)
Best Soundtrack: Meh...probably Prince of Egypt
Best Soundtrack Score where if you bought the CD was monopolized by Elton John singing songs that weren't even in the movie and even the ones that were and only had about 1/10 of the original score and even then they attributed all of those songs to Hans Zimmer and not to John Powell, who wrote the best score ever and even THEN you STILL can't get the real score of the song because they only released the REAL songs at the El Dorado cast party which means unless you have an inside connection you'll never hear them!: Road to El Dorado!

Hey, wasn't Joseph the King of Dreams released straight to video? Does that make it still count or no?

I said Shrek 2. I love both Shrek & Shrek 2. But I liked Shrek 2 just a little bit more. I did anyway. But didn't care for Shrek The Third that much.

    Re: Best Dreamworks animated film?

I voted for Shrek 2. I really enjoyed it. I don't enjoy animated movies a whole lot, so the fact that I could watch it and thoroughly enjoy it, says a lot to me.

I can't stand Seinfeld's voice, so I'll never see Bee Movie.

Have no interest in Shrek 3.

Didn't see Antz because of character voice issues.

I saw part of Shark Tales in the theater. I actually had to get up and take a break, get a cup of coffee. It was awful.

I didn't make it all the way through Over the Hedge.

Didn't see the additional movies--El Dorado, Sinbad, or Prince of Egypt.

I'm positive I saw Spirit with my horse-freak daughter, but I don't remember disliking it, so that must be a good sign. But when it came out on DVD, I bought a documentary about Cloud instead. Sorry Spirit.

I didn't love Madagascar the first time I saw it, but it has subsequently grown on me. Although I still have only seen it once all the way through.

I think Prince of Egypt and Mulan were out at the same time. I remember liking Prince of Egypt -- I won't say it was better but I liked it. I remember though being so frustrated that they kept tyring to push the Prince of Egypt song on the radio so much (I don't remember what it was called but it was lousy) instead of Reflections which is a much better song, and one that I actually like a lot.

It was called "When you Believe" by Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston.

My favorite is Shrek 2, I feel it was the better then the first Shrek, but I liked it too. Shrek the 3rd, while not as good as the 1st 2, still made me laugh out loud.

I voted Shrek 2. I'm not very religious but I really liked the Prince of Egypt.

Gotta be the original Shrek. Good clean hidden adult humor is what got me.

    Re: Best Dreamworks animated film?

I thought Shrek was great, and when it came out, completely original. That was my vote. I enjoyed Shrek 2, mostly due to Antonio Banderas. I agree with the person that couldn't understand why people liked Over the Hedge. Shark Tale was fun. I don't think I've seen most of the others. I maybe saw Ants (Woody Allen?). I will probably rent The Bee Movie.

    Re: Best Dreamworks animated film?

I voted Shrek for originality and script. I'd have to put Prince of Egypt a close second though because of the amazing music and the fact that Patrick Stewart voices the pharoh. Man I love him. The version of "When you Believe" that was in the movie was better than the Mariah and Whitney version. It was like they were trying to out "Diva" each other.
