    Spamalot: Vegas Edition

Spamalot is set to get it's own theater in Vegas in the same hotel where Avenue Q is already booked (as well as a new Cirque style show). This is pretty big to get both the 2004 & 2005 best musical Tony Award winners under one roof! http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...nm/spamalot_dc

I may have to start making plans to visit my Vegas friends....

    Woo Hoo!

The article stated that Avenue Q is opening on August 27th. I am going to see if I can get tickets for when I am in Vegas in September.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

Wow -- Vegas is becoming Broadway West! All the more reason to go.

I'm going to see Avenue Q in November and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

    Re: Spamalot: Vegas Edition

Please keep in mind that every Broadway Musical that plays Vegas is a shortened version of the original show. This practice dates back to Fiddler On The Roof and Hello Dolly. The Hotel/Casinos don't want a show to run for more than 90 minutes. Get back on that casino floor or belly up to the bar!

Exactly- the Venetian is getting a 90 minute version of the Phantom of the Opera. Not sure how excited I am about that, but I guess Vegas could always use some more quality entertainment.

A great steaming bowl of west coast Python goodness! I'm all over this when it opens!

I just finished reading Eric Idle's "Greedy ******* Diary," detailing his comedy tour across U.S. and Canada. Great, funny book, and I highly recommend it to all Monty Python fans.

I'm actuall very upset about this. Living in AZ u might think I'd be happy cause it's soo much closer, however the shortening of the shows is just annoying. But more imortantly AZ has become a blackout state for the tours of shows playing in Vegas. Spamalot which will begin touring next year, is banned from AZ, and Avenu Q (if and when it decides to tour) will be as well. Phantom was a bit smarter when they signed their contract. I am just very upset s full version of spamalot wil not be making a stop anywhere near me now.

I'm sorry to hear this about tours not being allowed to play certain areas because of their proximity, but I think Spamalot would be the only one you have to worry about with this. As far as I understand Avenue Q has no plans for an actual tour. They are setting up in Vegas instead of touring. It's a some what smart business decision based on the nature of their show and how it might go over in certain markets they would visit as a touring production. When they are stable in one location like New York & Vegas, it's easier to make it known that this is not a show for children. On tour though, it becomes a little more difficult to keep the more clueless members of the general public from bringing their young child to be scarred for life by a puppet show that isn't exactly what they were expecting it too be. (in other words, I'm jealous of you because i live in Florida, which is not anywhere near either of Q's theaters.)

I cannot recommend this show enough, even if it is an "abridged" version. By some sweet twist of fate I was able to snag tickets to see this and it was quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. Then again, the talents of the actors couldn't have hurt. I'll be interested to see what 90 minute versions of these shows are like next time I can make it out to Vegas...

Monty Python in Vegas? Could life get much better? Maybe I can convince my husband to take a quick trip down there - I'm dying to see this show!
