Disney World to add new safety features after employee dies on ride.
Since the accidental death of Disney employee Karen Price last fall, Disney World is now moving forward with plans to add new safety features to the ride which tragically took her life.
On November 24th, Karen was working the Animal Kingdom ride, ‘Primeval Whirl’, when one of the rides cars struck her causing her to fall and hit her head. She passed away a few days later from the injuries. U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is still investigating the death.
In response to this, Disney is adding sensor mats near ‘off limit’ zones near the loading and unloading areas, that when triggered will shut down the ride. There will also be added striping to these areas to better define the ‘off limit’ zones.
The work will be done after hours as to not interfere the operations of the ride.
