When my friend and I were watching Raiders the other night, we noticed it was rated PG. Granted that was back in what, 1981? But anyway, I found that one scarier than the new one and its rated PG-13? My kids are 7 and 6. I really dont think there was anything in the new Indy movie that would freak them out, where as in Raiders the ending would for sure.

And that's another thing, who were the drunken reviewers that gave this a PG-13 and Narnia a PG?

Quite possibly because Indy is a more intense film than Narnia. Narnia is just straight up death by bloodless swordfight. There's nothing scary about it.

In Indy, there's that scene at the end with Irina which might have tipped it over to PG-13. Eaten alive by ants? Maybe that would have done it. Or it could have been the cemetery warriors and how Indy blew into his tube.

It's probably a combination of all of them.

Don't forget PG-13 was not around then.

At that time, PG-13 hadn't been used yet. Raiders didn't have enough violence to warrant a R Rating. Actually, Raiders was one of the reasons they created the PG-13 rating.

Here's a great example of people having really no idea what could possibly be in outer space, from the movie's time period. It was so wide open to the imagination, and that is what is reflected in the movie...

1957 TV episode "Mars and Beyond" would be great for a Tomorrowland ride!

    And how about this gem?

It kind of was an exciting time, to be able to actually consider all of the possibilities!

i liked it a lot for the most part, but i do need to go see it again, i think i missed a few things plus the fact that by the time the movie was over i had been up for 24 hrs straight, so i was perhaps a wee bit tired last nite lol. awesome film though.

I didn't think the trailer for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was confusing at all. His aesthetic age is the exact opposite of the physical age of his body. He's basically aging as if you reversed the scale. The collage of clips shows this progress to clue the viewers in on it.

I thought Benjamin Button looked really intriguing! And I was really interested in The Dark Knight, even though I'm not really big on Batman. It was really weird to see Heath Ledger on screen.

I saw it with 9 others last night and we all enjoyed it. Was it as good as Raiders of the Lost Ark? No, but we all just watched Last Crusade and thought this was much better. All in all, I am happy with it.

Indy 4 was waaaaay out there, but It was awesome! I just accepted all the crazy stuff going on and BTW, who laughed at the beggining when Indy got punched and instead of a punch sound effect it was a slap/whip sound It was soo hilarious, but it got better after that, seriously. I really loved it

    Spoiler

I have not seen it yet, but based on what I am reading here, I do not have high expectations for it.

One of my biggest concerns is that - I cannot stand Shia. I don't think he is talented at all and he drives me nuts in every movie I have seen him in. And to hear that he is playing the role of Indy's son and is expected to take over the franchise makes me sick to my stomach. This ruins it for me.

That's the MPAA for you. KOTCS felt like it was trying very, very hard to be suitable for 3 year olds.

Actually, Temple of Doom was what lead to the PG-13 rating though it receieved a PG itself.
