Your HSM 3 Review...

In this thread I wanted to give everyone the chanve to share their thoughts on the newest movie in the High School Musical saga!

I'll start with mine:

I went and saw HSM 3 last night (or this morning rather) and I must say that all in all I really liked it! It was unnecessarily corny in some parts but, in my opinion, it had a really good and pretty original storyline. I loved the music and the choreography was really good! I really enjoyed seeing it and hope to see it again soon!

Anyway, what are your thoughts on the movie?

Re: Your HSM 3 Review...

Loved it! Saw it last Thursday.

It is just as cheesetastic as the first two. It is more of a blockbuster type this time around. There are good songs, lots of good dance routines, and some surprises. They do a good job of paying homage to films in their genre, and a couple that aren't.

I would definitely pay to see it in the theater.

Re: Your HSM 3 Review...

I just got home from it. Pretty good, I gotta admit. Better than the first two in some ways. But imo, Sharpay steals the show!
It was good, but just a tad too troy/gabriella focused for my taste.

I took my daughter today and really enjoyed it!

Spoiler
I liked the scene where Troy was dancing around the "box" room. Kinda reminded me of Footloose! Very clevar choreography!

Re: Your HSM 3 Review...

I posted this in another thread, but I thought I'd post it here as well

Saw the film today at a sneak preview (the perks of Radio Disney)

As a non-HSM fan (I had to watch the first one in two differnt viewings and only made it through about 10 minutes of the second)... I have to say this one wasn't terrible. Would I have paid to see it? No way!

If you've got tweens or kids that can't wait to be tweens, they'll love it. Girls were sreaming w/ joy when the title came up and a couple of them were spazzing whenever Zach Efron appeared. The cast did well, I hate that Efron always looks pained when he's singing. Like the notes physically hurt him. Also the new kids (the ones that are potentially the future of the franchise) annoyed me. Like, if they're what Disney's betting on for the next installments than I probably won't even give those a chance. Everyone else did well.

The songs are really catchy, I caught myself tapping my toes and moving to the beat (and this was after having heard the soundtrack three consecutive times while I waited for the show). I think I enjoyed them more than the songs in the other installments. And I'm still humming them.. they're a plauge but not an absolutely horrible one.
It was cheesy and predictable, but I did laugh a few times. I mean, it's your usual Disney story about being true to yourself but accepting change and everything turns out well in the end.

Re: Your HSM 3 Review...

I forgot to mention in my previous post that my daughter was in tears walking out of the show. Poor thing is worried that this is the last HSM.

I mean, I knew that she enjoys HSM alot. I didn't think that HSM potentially comming to an end would effect her that way. Anyways, just thought I'd share........

Saw the late show last night with an 8yr old girl, a 61yr old grandma and me. (31)

Spoiler

I thought it was a cute enough movie, do I ever need to see it again? Probably not, the 1st two were repeatable for me and while there were a few really great songs in this one, the movie as a whole didn't wow me.

I love the old movie references or what I thought were references to Grease (the junk yard scene), Breakfast Club (the hallway scene), Footloose (Troy's solo at the high school) and any Fred Estaire/Ginger Rogers movie. (Troy and Gab dancing the waltz on the roof).

Overall as a musical it had all the elements I like but it wasn't as cohesive as I'd like it to be but hey, it's High School Musical. So if you have tweens or teens I recommend this film but anyone else, I say wait for DVD.

Oh yeah, reactions from my family.

8yr old: Troy was really cute! I really liked it momma!
61yr old grandma: It was a cute movie, I was taping my feet a few times.

Oh yeah and I had the teeny boppers squealing with hormonal delight everytime Zach's face was shown close up on the screen, they went balistic when he took his shirt off. LOL I believe he is this generations Brad Pitt. IMHO

There you go.

Re: Your HSM 3 Review...

I loved it! It was just as good as the first one, and better than the second one. They only thing I found odd was that Gabriella was wearing a push bra. It seemed a little un-Disney.

Re: Your HSM 3 Review...

It was cute. I'm a weirdo because I like the secondary characters from the 1st one (Jason, Martha, Kelsie, Zeke, etc). So I was kinda' bummed that all their potential screen time was wasted for the newcomers. But I liked all the references to the other movies. Simple little ones like people's rings and such.

That and sometimes, it looked as if she was going to flash her undies because of how short the dress was.
