Re: New Moon Movie (Twilight Saga Book #2)

'Twilight' sequel release is set

Summit likes a November slot for 'New Moon'

By Carl DiOrio

November is for vampires.

That seems to be the thinking at Summit Entertainment, which Monday slotted the film "New Moon" -- the sequel to vampire romance "Twilight" -- for Friday, Nov. 20. "Twilight" opened with a huge $69.6 million in domestic boxoffice in the Nov. 21 frame this year, and distributors tend to return to the scene of such happy events with future franchise installments.

"Same time, same place," Summit distribution boss Richie Fay said. "If it's also the same gross, we'll be very pleased. Hopefully, we'll have even better results."

Execs at Summit -- which announced plans for a sequel on just the second day of release for "Twilight" -- just confirmed that Chris Weitz ("The Golden Compass") will direct "New Moon." The minimajor recently parted ways on the project with Catherine Hardwicke, who helmed the original.

Both vampire pics are based on books in the teen literary series by Stephenie Meyer.

One 'Twilight' Sequel for Each Year
December 12, 2008 02:30:24 GMT

Quote:

'New Moon', 'Eclipse' and 'Breaking Dawn', the three sequels for hit vampire drama 'Twilight', could be coming out one after the other from the year 2009 to 2011.

After Entertainment Weekly reported that "New Moon" is tentatively set for November 20, 2009 release, another interesting tidbit related to "Twilight" sequels has come out. Recently, Bloody-Disgusting throws a speculation that "Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn" could be heading to the big screen simultaneously one year after another.

That means "New Moon" will be coming out in 2009, while its follow-up, "Eclipse", could be set for 2010 release and the fourth adaptation, "Breaking Dawn", is to follow in 2011. Despite the breaking out of this new speculation, Summit Entertainment have yet to come out with any denial nor confirmation of the matter.

Re: New Moon Movie (Twilight Saga Book #2)

MTV News can confirm that 26-year-old "Scorpion King 2" actor Michael Copon [pronounced "COPE-on"] is one of several actors Weitz is considering to play the new, larger Jacob Black.

[Ben] Barnes is believed to be campaigning for the role of Aro, a mind-reading vampire whose "New Moon" encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together.

I can't see Ben Barnes as Aro. He's too young-looking.

Re: New Moon Movie (Twilight Saga Book #2)

Michael Copon is too old!! Why would Stephenie sign off on that?!
If anyone Steven Strait is PERFECT.
and yea.. I agree about Barnes.

-About a Boy had so many strong females in it. Seriously even the "weak weird" woman still had moxie. And they were interesting women. Plus I love how the characters are in that movie.
I didn't see Golden Compass and I'm probably not going to (I can ramble for paragraphs on that subject.). But it looked pretty.

Yea, looking at his background is very helpful. But all of this bologna about replacing Taylor is angering me. They have already made memorabilia with him on it.... they have him signed for all 3 movies.. they can't be like, well you can be in the beginning, but not the end. That's just so unjust. and Ben Barnes as Aro? I don't think so!! He's way too young to be any of the Volturi but that one boy Alec.. I think was his name. He was young like Jane.

Re: New Moon Movie (Twilight Saga Book #2)

I think Michael Copon would be great as Jacob, I've been saying that since I read the books.

Re: New Moon Movie (Twilight Saga Book #2)

He's got the looks.. but the age. Stephenie said Gaspard was too old to consider.. isn't he the same age as Copon? So if they agree to Copon being Jacob.. all the Gaspard fans even if they love Robert, are still gonna bristle. It's not fair is all.
ESPECIALLY because Jacob is still young in the book.

He's young, but he doesn't look so young. I have no thoughts either way on the Gaspard issue, but I can totally see Copon as Jacob.

Re: New Moon Movie (Twilight Saga Book #2)

I like Taylor. I know he's young, but I feel like for New Moon it still works. I never like the whole switching of characters. Look at Dumbledore- I mean I know Richard Harris died and had to be replaced- but Michael Gamdon doesn't do it for me.

I actually didn't mind Taylor in Twilight. But he's not big enough to be Jacob once he comes of age.

Seriously?

The Dumbledore thing drives me crazy. He didn't even wear glasses in the last one!
