Bolt Vs. Beverly Hills Chiguaguas

Bolt truely has heart. The action under the CG foremat is exciting - especially if one is fortunate enough to see the film in 3-D. But, what really sets the film apart is the warmth of the main characters as they each help eachother resolve harsh conflicts that the unfairness of life has thrown their way. The story bubbles over with substance and feeling.

Bolt wonders if the actress (Penny)) in his tv show genuinely cares about him as a real dog, or if she only values him professionally in his role as a heroic super dog. Penny is heart broken over Bolt's disappearance, especially after having been forbidden to ever take him off the set by the show's producer.

Mittens the cat was treated cruely by his masters and thought that he would always have to fend fer himself, and to treat others harshly in order to survive Rhino the hamster thought of himself as a loser that would never would have to settle for dreaming about being like his favorite television idols such as Bolt

In the end, each of these characters found that they could depend on one another for friendship, kindness and love. Bolt almost lost his life saving Penny from a fire on the set. My heart melted when she took him home and adopted him as her very own pet.

Lots of humor is to be found in the film as well - in particular where doggie ideosincrisies are lampooned. I laughed my head off when Mittens taught Bolt how wonderful it is to enjoy simple things average dogs do - such as sticking his head out a car window and hanging his tongue out in the cool wind.

Beverly Hills Chiguaguas will be one of those easily forgotten formula films that depends on flash over substance. A great big chee! Yucko!

At the risk of sounding too dogmatic, which of these two films about pooches did you most enjoy?

Seriously. 'Baldwin Hills Chupacabra' in 3D should be up there as well.

I haven't seen Baldwin. Thanks for the heads up, ALIASd! I will have to catch that film soon. 3-D is something I simply cannot get enough of.
