And continuing on my Halloween list...

The Monster Squad

"Wolfman's got nards!"
"Creature stole my Twinkie."

This one has become an annual tradition for Halloween, like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation has for Christmas.

Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut - I finally scratched that itch and pulled out that old Barnes & Noble gift card my brother gave me a couple of years ago and picked this Blu-ray up. I have it on DVD but just had the urge to see the high def version. All things considered, it's not as bad a PQ as I would have expected. And I've grown to enjoy this version over the original theatrical cut. It's not perfect, but imo it's better. So I really had a good time seeing this again.

Twilight (Blu Ray)

Looked really good in Blu. I know this movie get's a LOT of flack from people, but honestly, I actually enjoy it for what it is. Sure it's not the "typical" Vampire movie, but it's not THAT bad.

Alien

Trying to watch some scary movies this week. Great classic "trapped in space with bad-*** alien" movie. Tonight, Aliens.

I showed "The Philadelphia Story" in class. Such a great film, great writing, great acting, and great style.

"Hey you guys!" Continuing on my Halloween list, last night I watched:

The Goonies

It's a childhood favourite of mine. It was Goonies Day over at the TheGoonies.org message board. Goonies Day recognizes the day The Goonies went on their adventure in the movie which falls on Oct 26.

yesterday, I recently bought and watched, "Tinker Bell And The Lost Treasure." It's not that great, but I still liked it. I was expecting more. I was quite disappointed.

^ We rented it from Netflix, I'm not expecting much from it.

Hoping the kids watch it tonight with Grandma while were at HHN so I don't have to see it.

Re: The "What Movie Did You Just See?" thread RELOADED

last two movies I've seen recently were:
Paranormal Activity - I honestly felt that the movie did not live up to the hype surrounding it. I didn't think it was scary at all - suspenseful and creepy yes, but scary? Not really. And it didn't even get really creepy until the last 20/15 minutes of the movie. I was expecting to be terrified, but i wasn't. Just creeped out.

Where The Wild Things Are - loved it! Great soundtrack, and great story. Loved how all the wild things were aspects of Max's character. Jim Henson's Creature Shop did an amazing job as usual on the puppets. Would totally go see this again.

Re: The "What Movie Did You Just See?" thread RELOADED

I'm taking Film Appreciation at El Camino College in Torrance. In the last few weeks, I've seen:

"The General," starring Buster Keaton in his best silent picture.
"Citizen Kane"
"High Noon"
Fritz Lang's "M" with a young Peter Lorre at his creepiest.
"The Bicycle Thief"

At the theater, my most recent movies are "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" in 3-D
On DVD, I've seen "The Bounty", with Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, Daniel-Day Lewis, Liam Neeson, Laurence Olivier and roughly three dozen topless Tahitian women; in spite of the native nudity, the movie is rated PG. I'm guessing the movie is PG because the nudity is historically accurate.

Juno - Took me long enough but I finally watched this. The hype around this film made the beginning drag for me, but the final half really pulled me in. Great character studies all around.

For me, I saw in theaters: the Toy Story 3D Double Feature.
On DVD: Some Like It Hot (for one of my sibling's american cinema class.)

The Nightmare Before Christmas (Blu Ray)

Wow ... looks absolutely AMAZING. IMO better than it does in 3D. Some cool features as well such as the Haunted Mansion Holiday ride-through ... although I could probably get just as good video if they turned on the lights for me.
