Hairspray - MiceChat Reviews

Who else went and saw Hairspray?

We just got back from seeing it, and I have to say, with no offense to Jack Sparrow, Optimus Prime, Remy or Harry Potter ... but

BEST MOVIE OF THE SUMMER!!!

Seriously!!! It was funny, touching, well acted, well choreographed, well directed. I absolutely LOVED it.

Do yourself a favor, and go see it. It's got everything great movies are all about.

I'm debating if I should see it tomorrow 'cause I get to pick the movie my family sees, but I know my father doesn't like musicals.

Re: Hairspray - MiceChat Reviews

I loved the Original, and I fell in love with the Original Cast Recording, so when I heard they were making a movie out of it I was really excited! Then I heard they got John Travolta to play Edna Turnblad... and Zac Efron to play Link Larkin... wasn't so excited then, but more then willing to give them a chance and I'm glad I did.

I LOVED the movie and the new songs that "replaced" some of the songs from the Stage Musical were really good. The singing was better then I thought it would be, and the acting was great, especially John Travolta. Nikki Blonski was great as Tracy Turnblad, nothing to win awards over, but she held her own. I also thought the choreography was great. The only thing I didn't like was during "Welcome to the 60's" when the girls were dancing in the ads, kinda distracting.

5/5 Great Family movie (It's only rated PG) with some great messages about tolerance without being too preachy. I'm more then likely going to see it again while it's in theatres.

Re: Hairspray - MiceChat Reviews

me and my friends are still debating about going as a group, although one of the reasons is we get up too much and make too much noise (lol) but, i actually heard it was given and 2/5 for family friendliness. I think it said because some of the dirty dance moves and that some parts relate to sex? idk, we'll still probably go.. thats just what i heard but maybe i heard wrong?

I just came back from watching it. I agree with everyone. It was a great movie and even though some of the things were different, it was still great ! I am like Hector, I will probably see it again while it is in the theaters !

Definately. There are some 60's references in there like "Negro" but overall the story is so great and it's nothing over the top.

Just got home from seeing Hairspray and i LOVED IT! Probably my favorite movie all summer! Great music, great choreography, great acting... simply PERFECT. There were a couple sexual references, but they didnt distract from the story. I cant wait to see it again! Oh and it was hilarious, the theater, yes both male and female, went CRAZY for Zac Efron lol

Wolfy - and all the rest of the parents around here - I found a neat site the other day called commonsensemedia.org and it rates movies based on a bunch of factors and sets an appropriate age and all that. It might help anyway -- HERE is the link to their review page of Hairspray. And really, Mom, Zac Efron is in it -- so come on, please?
