Cool Dusty. I have a wonderful aunt who loves the Beatles and I'm dying to take her. I look forward to your critique.

I've been curious! Please tell us how you think. I've heard mostly mixed.

Re: Across The Universe

The first time I saw it I was very disappointed because I thought it could be so much more than it is. The trailer (per usual) shows nearly all of the most imaginative, exciting footage - unfortunately, the trailer is edited far better than the actual film is. I especially hated the first few minutes of the film (the "waves" over Helter Skelter) and the entire "Mr. Kite" scene.
But the film kept popping into my mind, so I decided to give it a second chance. I went back and, knowing what to expect of it, enjoyed it much more for what it is the second time.

You have an aunt who likes the Beatles? You are so lucky! My aunt is only into Lawrence Welk...

I am doubtful that they'll be making any movies about him any time soon!

Re: Across The Universe

Across the Universe, the new movie musical by Julie Taymor which features the music of The Beatles, is the Spruce Goose of Musicals. It was built with nothing but the most grandiose of ideals but only briefly took flight.

Wait for DVD

Yeah, I have a quite a few really cool relatives. Not too many nut cases, some annoying but none destructive. Guess I'm blessed there.

Thanks Norm,

I'll run it by my aunt and if she really wants to go I'll take her. She's buying the popcorn though!

That's usually what I keep hearing. I saw the trailer and was actually disgusted. It just looked like a complete misinterpretation of the Beatles catalog. With a washed-out, bland soundtrack full of pathetic covers.

John and George are not looking kindly on this from wherever they are. You know, George being into the Krishna. They're probably both in heaven, I guess. Depends...

Re: Across The Universe

Well, in my own opinion, I thought that it was awesome!

I think the scene with Eddie Izzard was the best part of the whole movie... I would easily see the movie again simply for that scene

So not only did I love the movie, Jude was freakin hot!

This move is definitely not for everybody by any means. Some love it, and some hate it.

I loved it

PG-13... not very much language, but for some reason, there is quite a bit of nudity. Don't get me wrong, its not a porno, but it just surprised me for being a PG-13 rated movie.

This is my favorite part...
