SEOUL -- Viacom boss Sumner Redstone said Tuesday he has no objection to Tom Cruise starring in the next installment of the "Mission Impossible" franchise, despite cutting his relationship with the actor in 2006.

Redstone ended a 14-year relationship with Cruise and producing partner Paula Wagner in August 2006, kicking their Cruise/Wagner shingle off the Paramount Pictures lot.

However, Cruise is in talks with Paramount to star in a fourth "Mission: Impossible" film.

"I consider Tom Cruise a great actor and a good friend," Redstone said. "And if Paramount decides to move ahead with him, I will not object."

He added that the decision was "up to Brad Gray, who runs Paramount."

IF they are going todo an MI-4, I think it is time to replace Tom. From what I remeber the original MI TV show was a team effort and not just a single man thing. I would like to see the show return to it's roots. I think with that to happen it must ber without Tom.

^ I've been thinking that too. I finally saw MI3 last month and loved it. But it left as being perhaps the most Tom Cruise-centric of all three in terms of the story. However, if the series when back to its TV roots, I don't think it would be a profitable now. The three films have pretty much set the tone that it's a Cruise vehicle (Cruise control ). If it ever gets done, "The A-Team" film would be our "team" franchise more likely. Or they pull a restart a la Batman and Bond and start all over.

I think that would be a great way to restart the Franchise. Give us some background on were these poeple came from, there be axing Tom and bring back the team effort that made the sereies a success in the first place. Nothing against Tom, but I just felt the role was wrong for him.
