Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

I thought it was a great movie. Certainly a favorite for the animation Oscar.
As for the "message": I think way too many people are way too sensitive. Anything can happen in 700 years. Excessive couch potatoing is merely one. A monopolistic corporation/government is another. A robot with a lonely personality looking for love is a third. A loony bin for insane robots is a fourth. Personally, my Roomba was acting very strange this morning....

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

Finally saw it on Saturday. Absolutely LOVED it. I couldn't have loved it more. It was simply amazing.

I'm still trying to figure out where it ranks for me as for as the former Pixar movies, but it's up there.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

I just saw it yesterday and I was blown away by it. I was afraid that after hearing so many great reviews, it wouldn't live up to the hype or that I would lose interest once they left Earth, but I absolutely loved it. For some reason, I had expected the captain to be the bad guy based on the previews and such. I guess that was something I fabricated in my mind. I do think the movie could have been a little longer though as the ending to me seemed a bit rushed. I even absolutely loved the credits. Seeing the humans essentially start over was really cool.

Overall, it might be my favorite Pixar film. I haven't been able to decide if I like it better than Ratatouille or not.

Yeah, but at that point, they've already scared the audiance so they had to get to the ending as fast as possible or continue torturing the audiance by doing something they haven't done in ANY of their Pixar movies before. I mean, I knew I was saying in my head "No... they aren't. This isn't happening. Why would Pixar do that to us? Oh God! They really are doing it! No! Why?!" by that point.

My soundtrack arrived today and I do enjoy it a lot! I LOVE that they listed every musician who played in the orchestra. I don't know why more scores do that! It's like credits in a movie.

And I learned that my old Trombone teacher was one of the players! How fun.

I think I'm gonna need to get Hello, Dolly! now!

You won't be the first.

I was talking to a co-worker of mine that came back this week after having nothing but Press Screenings for the last two weeks (lucky guy got to see all the movies that are coming out for the second half of the summer already!), and he questioned if WALL-E would end up reviving interest in Hello, Dolly.

I already told him that after WALL-E released on Friday, that night someone uploaded the entire movie on YouTube. Last I checked, the hits were averaging 500,000+. And much to my surprise, the two songs featured in Wall-E are in the middle of the film's first and second acts.

The song is called "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" and is the first track on the Wall-E soundtrack.

That question has been answered.

I saw this movie on the 4th and it is one of the greatest movies I have seen in a long time.

The reason I am quoting you is because I think one of the most important aspects to appreciating Wall-E is in fact this specific song. As the LA Times article that I mentioned a few threads back suggests, this song in Hello Dolly represents Barnaby leaving the small town for the big city, and hopefully to kiss a girl there. Similarly Wall-E is doing the same thing. And on top of that, the people on the Axiom want to leave and go back to earth.

So when you take that one song into consideration the two parts of the movie -- the part with Wall-E on earth, and them him on the Axiom -- actually make sense and compliment each other brilliantly.

During the credits were just 8bit video game renditions of Wall-E and friends. It was cute.

At the very end was a quick Buy & Large jingle.

I know what you mean! I was at DLR on Sunday to get the gift with purchase pins and stopped on Main Street to listen to "Put on your Sunday Clothes".

Like many others, I've seen the film twice now and bought the soundtrack as well.

This did not really dawn upon me until listening to the soundtrack but the music for the "Define Dancing" scene is a reiteration of the Eve theme and brings a great deal of closure. When we first hear that theme, Eve is doing her flyby and Wall-E is in awe. When we get to "Define", instead of being on the outside looking in, Wall-E is able to cross over into Eve's world and fly in space thanks to the fire extinguisher.
