Wall-E was a very nice and funny movie for the entire family. There are not many movies the entire family can go see.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

Saw it today! Now, I can finally read theses many of posts.

I voted for A pretty good movie for Wall-E . To me Toy Story,Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, & The Incredibles would be considered "One of Pixars Best".

I do think Wall-E is a little sweet movie and has such wonderful animation. I kind looked at this movie like Fantasia. Again, with the wonderful animation and for being mostly silent.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

just saw it at 12:30PM today

OT: there are alot of trailers of films that aired before the main film that want me to see them in theatres(like the Mouse film on 12/25/08) and a few that make think boring(pink panther 2,Bolt) and some i nwever knew about(Madagascar 2)
OT2:is Little mermaid:ariels Beginning the last prequel?

1.I love how disney is adding small shorts on thier films to keep fans entertained. the little Presto cartoon was funny.
2.The film was great, its actually the 1st Post-Disney film that made me almost cry.
Wall-E is so cute in some of the scenes, like when he shows Eve some of the treasures he found and he protected her during the weather changes. I think wall-e reminded me at times of ET with the craning neck and his curiosity.
A great comeback for Pixar,IMO

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

We saw it last week and we loved it! Our theatre was filled (mostly with adults) and the entire audience had a great time. Everyone seemed really involved in the movie and with the characters. I thought it was adorable. I also liked the short "Presto" at the beginning. I'll definitely be buying the DVD when it comes out.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

One of my political friends e-mailed me an opinion article titled WALL-E for President written for the NYTimes.

Quote:
As it happened, “Wall-E” opened the same summer weekend as the hot-button movie of the 2004 campaign year, Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11.” Ah, the good old days. Oil was $38 a barrel, our fatalities in Iraq had not hit 900, and only 57 percent of Americans thought their country was on the wrong track. (Now more than 80 percent do.) “Wall-E,” a fictional film playing to a far larger audience, may touch a more universal chord in this far gloomier time.

Indeed, sitting among rapt children mostly under 12, I felt as if I’d stepped through a looking glass. This movie seemed more realistically in touch with what troubles America this year than either the substance or the players of the political food fight beyond the multiplex’s walls.

While the real-life grown-ups on TV were again rebooting Vietnam, the kids at “Wall-E” were in deep contemplation of a world in peril — and of the future that is theirs to make what they will of it. Compare any 10 minutes of the movie with 10 minutes of any cable-news channel, and you’ll soon be asking: Exactly who are the adults in our country and who are the cartoon characters?

Read the entire article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/06/op...ef=todayspaper

Kind of makes me want to find out if ANY politicians have seen WALL-E and what they think about it.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

I saw WALL*E again for the second time on Thursday. It was just as good as the first time. Awesome movie, I can't wait to see it again. This was the first time I saw a Pixar movie twice in the theater.

I had a better chance to concentrate on a number of the parts more. I got a kick out of the part where the humans are playing virtual golf, but they still get the robots to swing the club for them. I also laughed when the Captain is checking the sytems and he mentions the regenerative buffet.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

I was listening to the Wall-E soundtrack a few minutes ago, and then I decided to listen to selections from Hello Dolly! just for fun. Which led to me listening to selections from West Side Story (while I had musicals stuck in my head).

I then realized there was another classic movie reference in Wall-E that maybe some people didn't notice, or at least I didn't see mentioned in this thread. And that is the scene at the beginning where they are flying over the city, with the buildings and garbage below. That is a scene reminiscent of the opening scene of West Side Story, directed by Robert Wise. This technique was later used in the opening of the Sound of Music, also directed by Wise, with the Austrian Alps replacing the skyscapers of New York.

So Wall-E also has a reference to not just one, but three classic musicals from the 1960s

^I hope Pixar and Stanton do the Audio/Visual commentary again for WALL-E when it releases in November like they did with WALL-E. I miss those features on DVD.

5 outa 5!

I went with 5 people with ages of 38,36,12,11 & 6. It was totaly enjoyed by all. It was a little preachy but didn't hit you over the head with the message like many movies do. The story with Wall-E and Eve was priceless, really lump in your throat material. Stragely enough I preferred the movie on earth a lot more then the scenes on the Axiom.

I'd recommend it to just about any age group.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

3 Out of 5 for me.

The Bads First:
I definately don't think this was Pixar's greatest achievement. I personally am not a fan of Sci-fi movies, probably the #1 reason I wasn't big on this film. I thought that some parts lagged and were boring, and some parts were a little hard to follow. That being said, let's moive on to the goods...

The Goods:
The movie had stunning animation when it came to the level of detail in most of the characters. The movie told a great story and really could tug at the heart in a few places.

I wouldn't consider it Pixar's Best, but I would put it under Toy Story and Finding Nemo, next to Monster's Inc.

Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews)

I'm currently listening to the excellent soundtrack. One thing that bugs me though, is the case. I know they were trying to go with the whole environmentaly friendly route by making it just from recycled cardboard, however, my disc came out with a bunch of microscratches on it. The money they wasted on those cheapo kids watches they gave out opening weakend could have gone into making a better case for the CD.

Re: Just got back from Wall-E

I may be in the vast vast minority, but while visualy stunning, I found it quite trite and simplistic.

The whole plot (or social commentary) was right out there within 5 minutes, and the whole issue of can AI feel love has allready been explored, and to much deeper levels in films such as Blade Runner, and to a lesser level of quality I Robot and AI (a strange film in which the viral advertising was better than the movie - was anybody else here a cloudwalker ?)

It was nice, it was cute, and I didn't dislike it, but it just didn't move me as much as some other Pixar films have. Maybe I have problems projecting human emotions onto robots.

You know, I thought the same thing. Sure Wall-E's antics were funny, but they didn't click with me. Until
Spoiler
EVE almost lost Wall-E, the way she called out his name (after he had reset back to factory default) had me in tears,
and then it hit and connected with me. Surprisingly, the scene where
Spoiler
EVE is in post-collection mode, didn't make me feel bad for Wall-E, mainly because she wasn't gone, just asleep.
Then, the second time around I could soak in the character as a being, and not just a thing.

There was a collective gasp of shock in the second viewing I had of the film. I mean, litterally, the entire theatre couldn't believe what Pixar did when that happened.
