![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) I just read some reviews on the net and it just bugs me when people compare it to past Disney/Pixar movies. A lot of people say "It's good, but not as good as the last 2 that were released by Disney/Pixar". I guess I should not read reviews anymore ![]() |

![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) I notice a lot of the critics point out that Wall-E has very little dialogue by saying something like "Although it has minimal dialogue..." but in animation, a film that gets across to the audience without dialogue is one of the greatest accomplishments of all!!! |

![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) Saw it today with my family and we all really liked it. We are such geeks though. I bought us all WALL.E t-shirts and we wore them to the theater. The film was wonderful, don't get me wrong, but for me there was just something missing. I guess I'm not too crazy about sci-fi movies and that kind of environment. That is why I gave it four stars instead of five. For me, I loved the Cars world and all that color and character. But I am happy to see that it is getting great reviews and that people are really responding to it. Last edited by Nancywitt; 06-27-2008 at 02:43 PM. |

| Greatest Gift of All ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) Cars sucked. I have no interested in seeing the Rat Movie. Wall-E is not only one of Pixar's best but its also one of the most well done movies I've seen. I really can't compare it to the rest of Pixar's films because I feel its on a different level. Pixar has truly outdone itself. It contains many references to it, but I'd go as far to say its this generation's 2001. Its like a combination of Finding Nemo, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Idiocracy (if anyone saw that) 10/10 without hesitation. |

![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) I must have seen a different Wall E than everyone else. I was looking at my watch several times hoping that it would end sooner than later. I thought it was, by far, the worst Pixar movie that I have seen. My wife and I both agree that this stinker gets two thumbs down. I was so hoping for better. |

You were watching the same movie... just probably not watching it with the proper mind set. This isn't a typical movie. It's more indie underground / experimental than anything. It's the riskiest movie they've ever done and I think they did a wonderful job with it. Had they done it when they conceived it back in 1994, it probably would have been a completely different film. I'm glad they waited.

I thought that just the fact that this film didn't have Larry the Cable Guy in it, automatically made it better than Cars.

![]() I had heard from someone that this movie was getting awesome reviews and lots of great talk. I was expecting to be blown away and I was..unfortunately not in the way I expected. I did enjoy the first 20-25 minutes...from there(where they took off into space)I thought it went very sour. Just my opinion.

![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) Congratulations to Pixar for having the nerve to make such a risky film. Well, three quarters of a risky film. The first half hour of the film (on earth, with Wall-E and Eve) do for computer animation what the first fifteen minutes of Saving Private Ryan did for war movies. It is quite an achievement to keep an audience that includes children enthralled for that long with no real dialogue. As a stage actor, I have always been a fan of silent scenes, as they can sometimes have more power than those with spoken words. The beginning of the film is simply masterful. Unfortunately the film slows down a bit when Wall-E and Eve arrive on Axiom. It isn't bad, mind you, but it isn't brilliant either. It is back to the what you would expect from a typical kiddie movie. There are spots where it really shines, particularly when Wall-E and Eve leave Axiom to fly around in space. A few of the scenes with the Captain also shine, namely when he wants to hear definitions of everything on earth, and when he rebels against Otto. The value of the portion of the film on Axiom is that it artfully borrows from many other great works about the future. There are bits of "Idiocracy" in the scenery, "Brave New World" in the dialogue, and "2001: A Space Odessy" in the score. This film is certainly an example of how to allude to other works without copying them. The very end of the begins to pick up again, but I do wish it had been ended a little more ambiguously, more artfully. The end does not take as many risks as the beginning, which is a disappointment. The good in "Wall-E" far outweighs the bad, and it definitely ranks among the best of the Disney-Pixar collaboration. To wish that film makers had been riskier is easier said than done, without the Axiom scenes is would have only a vague plot and would not have been very marketable to children. But one can't help but wonder what a beautiful result would have been created if "Wall-E" had taken just one step farther away from convention.

![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) This is without a doubt my favorite Pixar movie, I even liked it better than the Incredibles, and that's saying something! I also will have "Put on your Sunday Clothes" stuck in my head for the next month...(as if I didn't already).

![]() | Re: Wall-E (MiceChat Reviews) I'm so excited for this film. So far for me its: Finding Nemo > Toy Story > or = Ratatouille > The Incredibles > Monsters Inc. > A Bug's Life = Toy Story 2 >>>> Cars I would give Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Ratatouille a 10, The Incredibles and Monsters Inc. 9 or 9.5, A Bugs Life and Toy Story 2 an 8 or 8.5, and Cars would get like a 6. If WALL-E is as good as you guys and the critics are saying, Im in for a real treat.

![]() | The best Pixar/Disney Animated movie ever, best animated movie ever period. And one the best movies in general including live action in years.... When I first heard the message of the film I was concerned at Pixar making too light of the subject with its usual antics which are fine for a summer family film. But to their credit they kept it right on target and didnt make a joke out of it. Is it a message people need ? YES Do they want it in a "fun" summer family film? maybe not It IS NOT a fun frolic of fluffiness like past films also how do you market products like plush toys and tshirts for a film about the evils of run away consumerism? I like the touch of Wall-e's life blood being the sun as he is solar powered.... It will be interesting to see how its $'s do considering it has such a strong and uncomfortable message... The audience was full of the usual moms with kids once the movie started it got very quiet almost a gasp from the whole audience when right from the start you realize that the earth is lifeless and dead. There are allot of layers of depth to the film, yes it borrows from 2001 and silent running, more from 2001 than the obvious music references..... the Auto computer is very HAL like with both the single red eye and how it interprets secret orders from its human superiors the video of the CEO/President of the "world"? is directly "borrowed" from 2001...and borrowed from Idiocracy a film whose message is well worth putting up with the low budget roughness of the film for. The love story between the two artificial life forms is the only emotion in the film only machines have feelings and whats left of the human race isnt even aware of each others existence! The art of the animation itself is the best ever equal too and even exceeds Ratatouille, the gleaming reflective surface of EVE is incredible in some closeups.. The only weakness for me was it would seem that the humans were just a little too quick to go from useless blobs that dont care or more accurately dont even know whats going on to the rescuers of the earth in just one scene change... Having live action actors in the film was a little odd and the perhaps too oft repeated Hello Dolly numbers was a bit much, I did get it the first time and second and third and..... Cant wait for the blu-ray dvd, wished the movie had been in 3D, going to play the ps3 game right now for first time........ Also its interesting how they did a good job of creating a very Walt like 1967 era vision of the future yet they cant do that at the actual parks for tomorrowland!
