Blog Entries: 2 ![]() | If there's a Rock'N'Roll heaven, then you know they've got one HECK of a band... The Righteous Brothers brought us that tune back in the early 70's. Only they didn't say "heck". I got this idea from the "reunited" thread started by Sir Clinksalot. If you could visit Rock N Roll Heaven, which band, or act, would you like to see most? And it doesn't have to be "rock" only. Let me start by offering the ones I did in this thread - The Beatles (of course) and the original Beach Boys and, among others, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Doors, Janis Joplin, Jim Croce, the "Rat Packers", Hank Williams Sr. and my favorite all-time singer, Mr. Nat "King" Cole. Your thoughts? -- Barry

And speaking of the Beach Boys, I thought I would share these. ![]() ![]() The "Beach Boys Monument", located on 119th Street in Hawthorne, California - near the site of their childhood home (which was torn down to make way for the 105 freeway). -- Barry PS...You might have noticed six Beach Boys in the monument, as opposed to the five in the original photo holding the surfboard. That's because Al Jardine, who left the group for a short time in the early 60's, is included along with David Marks, a Hawthorne neighbor who took Al's place then.

Sam Cooke - he really "sends me"... ![]() I mentioned Jim Croce in my original post. I was just getting into his music when he died in a 1973 plane crash. I have been a fan of his ever since those days in the early 70's. A tremendous talent - he was on his way to becoming a big star. And how about... Harry Chapin Ray Charles and for that matter Duke Ellington Benny Goodman Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey Glenn Miller Count Basie (I could go on...) Count Basie...the summer nights I spent at the Carnation Plaza Gardens, listening to he and his band, eating fantasia ice cream cones...
