I like Sting's version.
I like Derek and The Dominos' version. This was added to the recording session the day Jimi died. (Or so I've heard.)

And I hear that Cheryl Crow and Eric Clapton made a version. I will be looking for that tonight.

I'd like to have heard a longer version by Jimi.

I guess I really like the song.

Ok if we are going that way.....Picked up Nightmare Revisited and while Elfman is always the best on this stuff Korn remake of Kidnap the Sandy Claws is awsome

I have that version as my ring tone on my phone. Yes I concur that Korn's Kidnap the Sandy Claws is better than the original. I also love Korn's version of Another Brick in the Wall better than Pink Floyd's original. I know Blasphemy huh?

You have not heard the 'Spongebob Squarepants Theme Song" until you have heard it sung by Richard Cheese.

some may think it Blasphemy...but those are also the people who tell me I am too old to like music that loud. Doing it better does not mean the orignal sucked in this case.
Disturbed vs Avenged Sevenfold ...Thoughts???

Sorry can't stand Avenged Sevenfold. Avenged Sevenfold sound like a watered down version of Dream Theater. It's all about Disturbed with me. I absolutely love them but am dissapointed with their version of Land of Confusion (But I did like their video for the song better than the one Genesis made.(Huge Todd McFarlane fan))

Another Korn remake comes to mind that absolutely blows the original away. Word Up which was originally done by Cameo. Korn absolutely rocks it!!

Also Marilyn Manson's version of Sweet Dreams is absolutely awesome compared to the original done by the Eurythmics. The Eurythmics version was poppy and happy but Manson's really turned it into something downright evil. My wife says it scares her.

Another remake that was just amazing was Rob Zombie's version of Brick House (He even had Lionel Richie sing with him on it) very Awesome!!!!

Marilyn Manson has his good days but it is mostly poor little Brian trying to get attention....
Dream Theater ???? Seriously?
Rev Therory - - Thoughts?

Video Killed the Radio Star - Originally by Buggles

Done MUCH better by Presidents of the United States of America

Oh, and Avenged Sevenfold can't touch Dream Theatre with a 50 foot pole. What does Avenged Sevenfold mean anyway???

Re: Cover songs done better

I love Dream Theater. They are the Phish of the Metal Genre. Avenged Sevenfold, to me, sound like they are trying to pull off Dream Theater but falling way short.

Another remake that I would say is interesting is Offspring's version of Feelings. You know......Feelings oh oh oh feelings trying to forget my feelings of love. That sappy song from the 70's. Offspring twists it around and make it sound like a deranged parody of itself.

If you want to get into some awesome remakes, alot of punks bands like to remake sappy songs. Some even just turn it into something different entirely. A couple of favorites come to mind. I absolutely love NWA's "Boyz in tha Hood" but Dynamite Hack turned that song into a totally different song.

Here's the original
YouTube - Boyz N The Hood

And Dynamite Hack's Version
YouTube - Dynamite Hack - Boyz In Da Hood

Re: Cover songs done better

Speaking of Offspring though, they've had some REALLY crappy remakes as well.
