What were the best vocal ensemble groups of the 50's and 60's?

So I'm hunting music to fill my iPod. I greatly enjoy the vocal ensemble groups of the 50's and 60's. Here's what I have focused on so far, to give you an idea:

Ray Coniff and the Singers
Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians
Mitch Miller and the Gang
Lawrence Welk's various arrangements

Anyone know of other groups like these? Your recommendations are most welcome!

Well, of the kind of thing you're talking about...

how about the Johnny Mann singers...

The "King" family...they were a family based in Utah and always had TV specials on

The Mike Curb congregation

and while it's not quite in the same genre I love the Four Freshmen, the Four Lads, the Four Aces, the Lettermen.

Hope that helps a bit!

I have a good selection of all those groups too .. i am trying to collect their complete works .. that is going to take me a while .. the lettermen alone recorded for 25 + years.. music is really a hobby of mine .. I love to scavenge the local thrift stores for vinyl albums.. amazing the music you can find. Thanks so much for your recommendations!

No matter how many times I hear their covers of "When I Fall In Love" or "The Way You Look Tonight"...I still get goosebumps, so to speak, every time.

And if you're interested in instrumental stuff...

How about Percy Faith, Prez (?) Prado, Bert Kaempfert (sp?) all had hits on the pop charts in those days...

Oh yes.. those songs are from their first album .. "A Song For Young Love" .. their best one I think ..

I do have an album of Prez Prado .. one of his "babaloo" albums ..

I forgot about percy faith .. my grandmother had one of his albums.. i will have to look into it..
